Just got notified through the ford pass app to schedule service. Parts must be in!
Available to order by dealer. My money is it will take months to actually obtain them. Hope I’m wrong.

Only 9 vehicles get full battery replacements per the bulletin (page 7)? That is about 1% of the 950, which makes sense for the chance of having several (3 or more?) modules with electrode misalignments. About 3000 dealers in US and Canada, so only 1 in 3 dealers, on average, will have to deal with this safety recall, and it may be a first time learning experience. Although there have been many other battery module replacements for hundreds of other HV battery module failures. Probably no reason to delay getting the work done in hopes the Techs will be learning from previous failures before they get to ours.

Trying to figure out the breakpoint for Ford of replacing modules, vs a complete HV battery replacement. The modules are about $4000 apiece retail, maybe $3000 actual Ford cost? 9 x $3K = $27K. Labor allowed is 12 hrs x $100/hr/TechLabor = $1200 for the initial inspection. Must be about 4hrs for each module replacement? So $400 labor also per module? So even if 8 of the 9 modules were bad, 8 x 4hrs x $100 is only $3200 plus 8 x $3k = $24K for the modules. So 8, maybe 7?, bad modules would probably about breakeven for just replacing the complete HV battery assembly. Plus final coolant refill and vacuum another 1hr, $100? So it does seem cheaper to usually just replace the individual modules instead of a complete battery every time?

Hello All. Joined up just to toss some notes here for this recall effort.

Called the dealer to schedule service immediately once I saw parts were available. Despite the nice encouraging notes from @bmwhitetx I got the typical following response when I was setting the appointment:
  • Unknown if they could order parts in advance, they would "have to get in there" to see before anything could be ordered
  • Unknown how long it would take
  • They'd "try" to get me a loaner
But, I need pro power to power our radio stations for Field Day next weekend. So June 30th it shall be.

Typical dealership shenanigans. Either way, worst part of the recall is going to be just being without the truck! I'm a recent trade up from a Model Y and love this friggin thing.

I would recommend you print the notice and take it in to the dealer.

Order and receive modules/battery by specific VIN by contacting the Ford Special Service Support Center (SSSC) prior to the service appointment. Additional materials such as heat shields will require inspection of the opened battery prior to ordering.

Dealers are pre-approved for up to three days for a comparable rental vehicle.

Perhaps your life will be easier at another dealer.

There were several recalls early on for us 22's. Another member recommended a different dealer that had a good Mobile Service Advisor. I emailed him the Tech Bulletins and asked for service. He didn't know anything about the recalls but with the info I e-mailed him was able to schedule me without shenanigans.

Unfortunately that Service Advisor was let go and now they have a jerk that won't even read e-mails apparently. So maybe try and get the advisor's email and send him/her the documents.

Thanks Grumpy. I’m still new to searching and probably just missed it in this thread, but I even tried google. Do you have a link where I can find the notice you’re talking about?

I’ll call the dealer tomorrow and try to get parts going again. They’re the only one in our town. Closest one from here is about 45 minutes away. Not a super big deal but logistically it’s much simpler for me to stay in town. I will give them a call though if the local guys won’t help.

Got the same story from my dealership. They told me that they had to charge it to 100% and run some diagnostic tests to see if the battery or any modules would need to be replaced. Said that the truck would be there for awhile and that a loaner would not be available.

Ford is taking in the truck Thursday and giving me a 25 ford edge for a loaner. Which is fine, any loaner is fine as long as it’s free. We’ll see what happens.
Why would they allow for 9 complete battery replacements, the rest are repaired.

My dealer insists that they need to verify the problem before they can order parts. All the long saying I have the problem. i challenged them on that but it was like talking to a brick wall. They are going to pick it up in the morning and test it tomorrow. And then order parts. What a Crock! Ford can already state 9 out of 950 require full battery replacement but then say they need to verify my problem. It would seem if you can identify 9 you would also think they know pretty much what has to be done to every individual truck. But what the hell can i do? The answer is nothing. And they say FORD requires them to do this or they can’t order parts.

My shop manager said they had to charge it up to %100 then take the battery off and test it. I think I’ll Bring it to them with 5% charge so they can spend nine hours charging it up! 😆 ill have a loaner from them.
