I have an extended range Lariat. This is my first ever truck. Winter is emerging here in Central New York and I feel I should get snow tires. Is there any reason I shouldn't just order some Blizzaks and have my usual mechanic install them on my existing rims?

Since this is my first truck I don't know if there are any general dos and don'ts when it comes to snow tires. Is there anything else I should consider?

An ER Lariat is definitely not a light truck so be sure to check the tire weight ratings.

Those should be fine...I have the 18 inch Blizzaks and they only have a rating of 114r. So long as I'm not hauling a ridiculous amount of stuff, they will work out.

That being said, an unexpected downside of the smaller rims is they cannot put the weights inside the rim since it will come into contact with the humongous caliper we have in the front.

Thanks. I hadn't even thought of that. It looks like those are rated at 2500+ per tire, so I think they are good.

You're good. Recommended tire from Costco.

How are these doing? Is there much noticeable range impact? I'm looking to do this exact setup on a SR Lariat.

I have seen no indication of this with the 18" wheels and snows I have on my Lariat ER right now...

They look great and I have not noticed much of a range loss. I had to buy the TPMS from Costco as well they won't install 3rd party units. Every thing works. So I guess I will install the 3rd party TPMS on my RV trailer. See if I can get the truck see them. Oh!! these are in Canadian dollars.:)

Those will be just fine.
I really like the Nokian Hakkepellitta R3 SUV for a winter tire. I have them on my lightning. Those or Blizzaks are great/

We have the hakka r3 SUV on our Volvo. Love them so far (used winter 2021 and so far 2022). I have continental viking contact 7 on grid gd08. I skipped the tpms sensors, so after about 20 minutes the light comes on. This does not bother me as I have run winter wheels on all of my cars since finishing college (no longer driving beaters). None have had tpms sensors. The tires are not noticeably louder than stock.

They have been excellent. Limited snow here but in sub 10C temperatures I haven't had any issues. Road noise is noticeable but any sounds are amplified from a truck this quiet! Seeing approx 20% range loss so far from sub 10C/50F temperatures + Blizzaks.

How loud are these? I just put on 275/70/18 which is load range E. Love them but definitely louder than I was expecting.
Honestly have not hardly noticed a difference in road noise at all relative to the OEM AS tires. WAY less than BFG KO2s I've run on my previous truck.
