I was one of those people that was on the list for over a year for my new 2022 lariat lightning. I paid MSRP for the truck after battling them wanting a $10-$15,000 premium. My payments were crazy and my value at the end of three years was in the hole about $5000.

I recently leased a 2025 Lightning for about $450 per month less than my loan payments.
I upgraded to the extended range battery, and have a moonroof. I received about $20,000 off of MSRP.

No worries about the values at the end of 39 months. New electric and plug-in hybrids could include technology not available now. I do love my Ford Lightning, and besides the nightmare of the home integration system. It is a great vehicle.

You're saying you only lost 5000 on the trade? That's really good.

Think he's saying he had a $800/month payment for three years and despite that he was still $5,000 in the hole (on his 2022) after three years.

Maybe I should start over again. I bought my vehicle 2022 for a list of about 84,000. I was paying about 1175/ mo in loan payments. I owed 42000 on the loan. I got 37k for selling 2022 and paid off remaining of loan. Bought a 2025 that listed for 84k ( about same price and almost same truck) I’m now paying for a 39 Mo lease 714.00 per month. New truck, lower cost. 💰😆👍🏻 Happy guy

Well, for me personally, that is a lot of money to loose on a vehicle but you seem to be happy and that is all it matters.

Then again, he must have done 0% down and super high interest rate to have that type of payment, and he's lowering the payment by $460ish for 35 months but has to pay for a lease for four additional months, so in the end he "saves" around $13K but have no truck to show for it in the end.

Hopefully a 22 is worth more than 13K in 3 years, and in that case it's a net loss, but then again, repairs etc. might make it worse.

The 25 isn't such a horrible deal given the circumstances (it's not great either considering people were leasing them for a lot less not too long ago), even if the original deal on the 22 probably was.

Yes, happy guy and love the truck. Plus the extended battery which I wanted. And a brand new. 25 with full coverage. All good and enjoying the ride. Not thinking battery vehicles are a capital asset one wants to count on for the long term. Lesson learned on my 22. Over and done.
