No, N on the dial is still neutral.
M/L is the override/bypass that allows you to remain in neutral, while you open the door, without the truck automatically shifting to park.

I bought the "L" version Bronco Shifter so I could explain it to my wife as a "neutral Lock". I don't think there is a functional difference between the M/L versions, they both achieve the same thing.

I hope the lightning refreshl has a column shifter. the centre console gear shift is such a colossal waste of space.

I'm still far more partial to the column shift myself, but I'm so glad to see that these sorts of mods work so well. It's great to see plug and play options.
