My 2023 Mach-e had a nice size useable frunk. When the Mach-e switched from the electric heater to a heat pump, the frunk all but disappeared. From what I hear, it's only big enough to hold a six-pack now so it really doesn't get used anymore. Still seems weird to charge for it, but I guess it helps lower the MSRP.

Not to defend Fords decision to cut corners, If you’ve ever seen the frunk of a Mach E you’d understand a little bit. It’s fairly small - about a duffel bag - so unless you really need every bit of extra room most people are just gonna toss things in the rear. When the heat pump was introduced the frunk shrunk further.
It also doesn’t have power lift functionality which could deter people from using it on a daily basis. For these reasons we rarely use ours in the Tesla Y.

The Lightning frunk is truly world class in size/capability but after owning several smaller EVs the volume available to dedicate to a frunk shrinks very rapidly

Not defending the practice at all but they're not the first to offer a frunk tub as an option. Regardless, I wouldn't bother with such a small area, winter makes frunk access a pain sometimes.

Hell, the paint on my other truck was a $395 option. That was back in 2013. $495 don't sound too bad.

If anyone was wondering why the 18 billion dollar loss, the new 2023s still on the lot to this day, and a general negative sentiment then look no further.

Where do you see new 2023's? I'd love to pick one up.
They’ve got them hidden, although the last dealership I was in had a nice 2024 for over msrp. I only call them new because they haven’t been “purchased”, the dealers will hide them or put them in the loaner fleet to rot because no one would want to use them.

So, if you don't pay for the frunk access, how do you put washer fluid in the reservoir? They can't legally lock that access.

You are not paying for frunk access. It is $495 for the plastic tub. Otherwise, there is no plastic tub.

The amount of incorrect information about this rather simple feature delete across the interwebs is mindblowing.

I see, that makes sense. But either way seems petty and a scheme to gauge more money from the consumer.

So you've never seen a manufacturer remove something that was included in the price, and make it an option?

Spare tire removed from Lightning... That's just one example.

Where would these be exactly? I am curious too! Is there evidence for this?

Thanks. More interested in finding an unsold 2023 Mach-e. Link is to a Lightning.

The Lightning you linked is a great deal. Approx $50,500 for an ER Pro with TowTech and 9.6 kW ProPower đź’Ş
