Any thoughts on this situation. A week ago Thursday I started my 23 Lightning Lariat ER with 21000 miles and got a service vehicle soon message. I looked up the error and found it was a power train fault. I called the dealer on Friday and was told to bring it in. I figured it would likely be there a couple days so i took it in on Monday.
The service guy looked up the error and said it appeared to be related to the shifter module but they would check it out. They called later in the day and said it was the shifter module but they are on back order so I could come pick up the truck. When I picked it up I asked if there was any problem with driving it. He said no but did say he’d seen some where the shifter would lock into Drive or Reverse. Since mine seemed to function fine I continued to drive it.
About 2 days after I brought it home I noticed the error message was gone when I start the truck and the wrench light is gone as well. It’s like it fixed itself. Then today I noticed that I had a sync update on the 17th to 25.2.1.6X. I think that happened after the error went away but I’m not positive.
So my question is do I go ahead and let them replace the shift module when it comes in or assume the truck fixed itself? I’ve always felt original assembly was preferable to repair assembly. Any thoughts?
