Turn Signal Cameras???

PSA: To anyone that has gotten the new IPMA update available in FDRS, you can now activate the turn signal cameras while towing.

Edit: Must be done with FORScan.

  • reset APIM under wrench icon

Mine offered a new view recently. Not sure when it was updated but noticed it in the truck yesterday. Trailer view and it shows both side cameras

Would be interesting to see an example. I don't see how the cameras pointing down can show anything but the ground.

Are you sure the new view isn't patched from the tailgate or CHMSL?

They enabled this in a 2020 Thor motorhome I rented based on an E450.
A friend has a Denali 3500 HD with this enabled.
I just bought a 2022 F350 and 5th wheel. I want this so badly....

I love the feature. All credit to @antho over on the ICE forum for figuring it out. He also stated that if you plug a light into the trailer connector to cause a draw, it will trick the truck into thinking it has a trailer connected and you can have it working all the time.

What's really helpful is that at night, the camera view on the screen appears brighter than looking through the mirror itself. On the way back from the keys when I recorded that video referenced above, I stopped at a gas station to fill up my boat since the rec 90 fuel is cheaper down there than in the city where I live. It was at night, and when it came to pull out onto the main road, it was dark and difficult to see through the mirror to make sure I wasn't going to clip anything with the trailer. I turned on my turn signal, the view on the screen was at least 5 times brighter than what I could see in the mirror. It really is a great feature; Ford really should make it available to any vehicle with a 360 camera package as part of the towing package.

@Jrs2233 I have Lightning specific instructions on this thread, here is Trailer side view:

Trailer Side View - 2022-2023 only. Standard on 2024+. Shows corresponding camera view alongside of vehicle when turn signal is applied with trailer connected. See here for how to fake a trailer. Note: requires newest 12/23 IPMA update.
IPMA 706-01-02 *xxx xxxx xx-- if 0 change to 3, if 7 then no change (2024's)
APIM 7D0-02-03 xxxx x*xx xx-- if 0 change to 8, if 4 change to C, adds Trailer Side View toggle under Driver Assistance

But you have a 2024, so already have this functionailty. You just need to fake a trailer.

Note, for some Lightnings, the APIM 6th byte may be a 4 instead of 0, so change to C instead of 8. Specifically the 15" screen probably has a 4. If you change to 8 instead of C you lose Drive modes. See this post.

I was wondering, is there a way to have the camera on the mirrors turn on when you turn on your turn signal? Is there a feature or setting that allows them to turn on?

For example, I flick the left turn signal and the driver side camera comes on for 3-5 seconds then turns off.

If it’s possible to do it without forscan, that would be awesome!

My 2016 accord had this feature, but just for the passenger side since that was the only side that had a camera. And my wife’s Telluride has that feature. It’s really nice to check your blind spots when changing lanes.

Have to make it think you’re towing. The cameras can do it. Ford just doesn’t care. Maybe now that they added it to the new expedition they will push out an OTA

Agree. Maybe they will show us some love instead of hating on us for not buying a 25 expedition.
