Really Ford you think Chev and Tesla are not going to use this against you on advertising their trucks . Yes just buy a Ford to lose your money. I can hear them advertising now. Making fun of Ford. I love my lightning, best vehicle I have ever owned .also it has sold a few for you.Dealers always tried to get me to buy ice trucks.sales people didn't know nothing about the trucks .very bad business for ford. I would not buy anything you make after this ,you think people are going to buy your batteries for their home after this .your Competition Is going to have a Heyday with you on everything you sell.sorry you are going to lose your customer base. You should have Just started another lightning REV LINE. YOU HAVE A FANTASTIC Truck now .

I suspect that GM will slowly wind down production of their EV's to focus on more profitable vehicles that resonate with customers. They will post some lofty language press release speaking to how they are not giving up on EV's but are moving to a different platform that will better align with what customers are looking for. All while killing their models off, in favor of larger SUV and Truck platforms with more potential profit.

When gases envariably rise again in the future, the news will be filled of stories of how people cant afford to fuel their vehicles. Then in a few years when the Chinese manufaturers have taken over the market for cars and light trucks, everybody will wonder what happened.

Call me stupid. I also love my Lightning, so much that I ordered a replacement for my 2025 Lariat. I really don’t know if it’ll be built; wait and see for now. I’m also disappointed at the EREV strategy for F150 but I won’t turn my back on an iconic brand that has delivered for me and my family and extended family for generations. So, call me stupid. I’ll stick around and if/when the EREV emerges, I’ll let you peeps know how it goes. I remain cautiously optimistic for now.

Umm... The announcement is quite clear. Production has ended. Not a single truck more will be produced.

Is like abandoning your own kid and wife and telling relatives that you will support until 18 years old. I believe Ford failed again, instead of improving the Lightning which by the way by far is best truck EV in the world in my opinion they left the competition in the middle of the game. Once again they start another segment and as usual cut and run again. Ford what you don’t realize is there’s economic slowdown everywhere and you can’t even still support the first generation F150 Lightning that is in hand , how you expect and request someone to buy the rest of what you decided to discontinue.

Yup! Found this quote which is perfect:

Ford didn’t “follow the customer” here so much as follow Washington’s mood swings. Killing the BEV Lightning while the rest of the world keeps scaling EV adoption isn’t a strategy - it’s self-sabotage. Ford is literally swapping a battery-electric pickup for an EREV with a gas generator. Translation: when we get nervous, we bolt an engine back on and call ourselves “pragmatic.”

Meanwhile, the technology curve isn’t slowing down, it’s accelerating, and the center of gravity is moving to China. They’re rolling out megawatt-class fast charging, pushing charge times toward “coffee break” territory, and shipping well-equipped EVs at prices that would’ve sounded like satire five years ago. That’s not a press release… it’s scale, cost-down engineering, and relentless iteration. The kind of flywheel you don’t catch up to by clinging to yesterday’s fuel.

Here’s the part nobody wants to say out loud: the US is defenestrating its own industrial future to protect a petro-economy that’s already being outcompeted on physics and economics. Oil is an incredible energy source, for the 20th century. Electrons are the 21st-century logistics layer: generation, storage, software, and motors. We’re choosing to stall out because politics told us to be scared of change.

We have bought countless Fords for generations. We are as Ford as it gets but that iconic brand has turned on us. At Ford, when the going gets tough, we abandon everything.

This decision is so blatantly out in the weeds. Clearly they know the future is BEV so something is up. To give up on having a BEV version of their most popular model and doubling down cancelling the future T3 version too, tells me they are going for the short game and call it quits later on.

I was about to buy my wife a mach-e but there is zero chance of that happening now. I am completely against EREV as I own one and they are problematic at best. If I were interested, you think I would trust the company with the most recalls to build me that with zero experience in it. Get ready for the cancellation of Lightning 2.0 in about 5 years because they flip flop like a fish and leave their customers holding the bag. I have lost all my trust in Ford. I will NEVER! buy a Ford again.

But, we are all driving future classics! I'll drive mine till the wheels fall off.
yup. The last ones off the line will sit in dealer lots for two years not being able to be sold and then you can get a smoking deal. I picked up my 23 er lariat in feb 25 when sales were bad. got a great deal and have never looked back i love my lightning . so disappointed in fords decision.

I know everyone is freaking out right now, but I still feel confident Ford will support our Lightnings for the 10 year period as promised. If I had bought a Rivian or Lucid and they cancelled the EV, I’d be a lot more worried about future support guarantees.

I’ve only bought one brand-new vehicle and it was my lightning. I did want to buy Ford because they were the only ones that did not take government bail out money during the housing crisis and financial crisis/ Great Recession in 2008. To me that meant that they were not behold to the government and that they added some scruples. I still like Ford products and will continue to support Ford.. They gave us a very good product and I could not ask for it to be more than what it is for a first and possibly only edition.

Ford bought back my Lightning, have been missing it since July but with current pricing was out of the market. I ended up leasing a Mach-E on the cheap with no money down............

I would be stupid enough to get into another Lightning, leased and purchased at the end. It's really that good.

Ford still has EV techs, said EV techs will be able to repair Lightnings as a side gig and make good coin. Unlike Tesla, Im sure there will be some Guru's who will be able to provide services for the software side. The possibilities are endless.
