Having tried two of best rated wiper blades on the market over the past few years in my Lightning (Rain-X Silicone and Bosch Icon), I have been very underwhelmed with both. Does anyone have a recommendation for wiper blades that deal well with all seasons (rain, snow and ice)? The Rain-X and the Bosch have both been okay for a time, but the Rain-X squeak constantly and the Bosch just did not hold up well after the first month or two of usage.

I'm planning on sticking with OEM inserts. I've yet to swap the blades on the Lightning, but for my previous vehicles, any noise or stuttering is due to the glass itself being dirty. Windex won't help. I generally get a clay bar and really clean the glass then seal it with wax or water repellant. Usually do this 2x per year (Spring/Fall) while I swap the blades/inserts in the spring and replace every year.

Costco blades. Work fine.

Yep, clean glass. I use a magic eraser then coat with rainx.
This gives me the heebie jeebies because isn't this product just a wad of microplastics? doesn't it cause fine scratches on the glass?

It is a plastic, but that is like saying something is an engine, there are lots of different types.

I have also used a clay bar which works the same. Great to have and cheap enough.

As for scratches I have not noticed any. Now I don't do it daily, but I have done it a few dozen times and there are no scuffs I can see (and I would).

CR stopped reviewing blades a while back. They said they all perform the same. I'm with a bunch of you on this post. Care for your windshield and blades will work better and last longer. Clay bar, and keep clean. I rarely use my wipers because I love the rain repellents. They are needed sometimes. I also can't stand the look of clean glass only where the wipers are, and nasty glass around the edges. Because of that I tend to clean my glass way too often. That's not a bad thing, but is for my family who think I'm crazy. Keep it clean, and seal with something. Wax, rainx, ceramic stuff.

The first set on my truck skipped a little. I had bought Bosch Icons because I heard they were the best. They never really worked very well as they skipped a bit and kept getting worse. When I went in to the dealer for the two recalls (software updates), I mentioned the skipping to the advisor foolishly thinking there was something wrong with the arms. Guy hooked me up with a pair of OEM blades for free and it fixed the problem. After 16 months of ownership all it needed was a fresh pair of OEM blades. I may not buy OEM again going forward, but now I know if there is even the slightest skip I bought the wrong pair.

Who makes them? Motorcraft?

I believe they are, but I’m not totally sure as mine are not branded. The advisor specifically told me they were OEM though, and not some random generic brand they buy in bulk. In retrospect the Icon blades seemed a little stiff and were not lying completely flat on the windshield as a result. Going forward I would look for a blade with a lot of flex.

Another vote for Costco. They usually carry Michelin or GoodYear branded. Usually around $20 for a set. Have never had any issues and they last 8-12 months.
