This was shared here earlier in the week. Brian from Ford said that it’s a prioritization due to an aluminum shortage not a cancellation. Thread went on for a while, in case you want to read it and feel out people's thoughts. No formal cancellation announced but things don’t look great.

Say it anit so!

Someone please prove this article wrong.

@Ford Motor Company , what say you?

That is why I leased by XLT last Feb when they offered dirt cheap leases. I can just hand in the keys at the end of the 36 months and Ford can eat the loss. What they need to do is offer a high performance XLT version with maximum range and bring it in high 50s. Its a great truck and will go down in the dust bin of history of a failed EV project. Too bad.

2022 Lightning Platinum EV

Book value, typical miles/condition

2022: $91,000

2023: $47,000

2024: $34,000

2025: $29,000

Exactly. ^^^^

I don't believe Ford is going to do any such thing.

I'm just going to wait and see if Ford makes an announcement.

As a new LIGHTNING owner and FORD loyalist I must say the masses have no idea how great this truck is: I've had '13, '16, and '22 F150 CC (all 3.5 ECOBOOST ICE and '22 I traded was hybrid = POWERBOOST) and IMHO this truck is superior to the ICE or HYBRID versions: now getting sales up to where they need to be to justify keeping LIGHTNING in production is another matter - I would imagine the biggest deterrent to sales (besides price) is RANGE, but I would think that RANGE will be improving yearly, and even anticipate a battery upgrade in a few years for all current LIGHTNINGs out there, so hopefully FORD "toughs it out" and stays the course -
if not I'm glad I jumped on the bandwagon, and believe if they discontinue these trucks they'll be CLASSICS (but I''l be long gone!)
FORD - I hope you can figure out how to make this a profitable vehicle - it is an outstanding truck!!!

The masses don’t care, and therein lies the entire problem. No matter how much we all love them, it’s a major dud from a sales perspective. Forget the profit, there’s simply no demand. Time to move on.

These rumors weren't generated out of thin air.
The lightings future is currently in serious jeopardy.

Edit: current stock price 13.22 (after hours Friday) will be interesting to see the markets reaction once this is digested

Besides slumping EVs sales nationwide because of the anti-EV climate we're experiencing in the US, what other evidence do you have to support your statement above?

How is “prestige” relevant?
Look up the definition of the word "Prestigious" and I guess you never heard of the National Enquirer to be able to make that comparison.

I have no more information than you. But Brian's reply in the other thread is very telling, imo.

"Right now, we’re focused on producing F-150 ICE and Hybrid as we recover from the fire at Novelis. We will bring Rouge Electric Vehicle Center back up at the right time, but don’t have an exact date at this time."

Many people can interpret that in many ways.

I interpret the "right time" to restart Lighting production as ambiguous, and an admission of truth to the article. Ford was very aggressive with Lighting sales estimates several years ago, and optimistic about reducing costs with scale. But the costs to produce didn't decrease, and the sales figures didn't increase. Jim's recent remarks about the public not wanting expensive large ev trucks, but do want smaller ev trucks all align with the conclusions in the article.
Which brings us ominously back to restarting Lighting production at the "right time."
It's not a stretch to see Ford refocus their ev truck resources to a smaller and less expensive version, which the believe is what customers are clamoring for...which leaves the Lighting on hold.
It's just my opinion and you're free to have your own.
I love my Lighting, it's the best vehicle I've owned.

The national enquirer broke the Jon Edward's story.
Prestige is unimportant- what's in the article is.

A broke clock is correct twice a day, that doesnt make it something to trust.

"Prestige" in this case just means reliability, something you can count on. That doesnt means that they have had something correct, it means how often are they wrong.

It's about trustworthy reporting of which the wsj has NONE! Not about important things anyway, they have 0 ZERO integrity. Fluff stories don't count.

Without integrity, there can be no prestige.
