Black Rhino Wheels & Nitto Grappler Tires installed on on Black Platinum Lightning

Inspired by TC Customs build ( http://instagr.am/p/CezlZslt1tv/ ), I did a similar setup. (Mine has no level kit and wheels are stock size)

This is black rhino rapid wheels, 20”, in gunmetal finish

Nitto grappler tires 275 (285s should fit too)

work was done by detail doctor in shrewsbury nj. They did an amazing job and also did a ceramic coat

Doesn’t seem to be any noticeable Difference yet but I haven’t done any long rides. The installer noted that this tire wheel combo weighs less than the stock, and I didn’t adjust height. So the only hit might be some aero but maybe less weight offsets that. There is more road noise as is to be expected.

I plan on doing a 200+ miles drive in a few weeks. I’ll report back

No lift/leveling need correct?

It was just under 5k installed and includes mounting, balancing, alignment, any speed adjustments, and moving the TPMS from factory to the new wheels.

there was no leveling done on this. I wanted the size to stay as close to stock as possible. I asked the installer to use 20” (stock platinum has 22 which was too big imo). The installer said 285 or 275s would fit. I went with 275s to keep it near stock

I believe the offset is 12?

Any update on range loss with this mod? I'm thinking about going with a 285/50R20 Recon Grappler based on your comment from your installer that they would fit without leveling kit and other research I've done. The wheel is a +20 offset so hopefully that helps a little with the bigger tire.

I am getting 2.2-2.7 mi/kW local driving (40mph average or lower). On the highway I am getting about 1.8 when going 75-85. About 2.0 if traveling at 60-65. These numbers seemed to match others with a stock setup according to another thread on this forum. So it’s hard to tell what the impact would be exactly but it appears to be mostly negligible and your rate of travel is a bigger factor.

as others have noted, doing a 2” level hits the range big time (same as ICE) but the tires alone here didn’t seem to make too much of a difference
