The F-150 Lightning has reclaimed the top spot among electric pickups in the U.S., according to S&P Global Mobility.

In March, the Cybertruck logged 2,170 new registrations—falling over 400 units behind the Lightning, which registered 2,598 vehicles. The Lightning, which hit the market in May 2022, has edged ahead in both March and the full first quarter of 2025.

Across the first quarter, Tesla’s Cybertruck totaled 7,126 registrations, while the F-150 Lightning reached 7,913.

Great to see the Lightning holding its ground even after 4(?) years of the current model. Can’t wait for the T3.

If it’s really due to low inventory then sales will recover a bit. I don’t see the lightning blowing the cybertruck out of the water sales wise, I guess they’ll probably hover around the same levels going forward. I don’t see the ev truck market growing much with the current administration.

Poor April sales were "due to low inventory"...I put that in quotes because that is what Ford said...I believe the Lightning is still selling, even being an "old" truck, because it is new to a lot of people. More and more people are figuring out that electric can work for them and they want a truck. That is why I bought the Lightning. My use case for a truck and the Lightning aligned pretty well perfectly.

Just makes that cybertruck vs F150 tug-of-war video Tesla put out years ago all the more hilarious. Can't remember where I read it, but I thought I read somewhere that Ford didn't have any interest in making the Lightning until that video came out.
