2025 F150 Lightning Flash 131kWh
Hi there,

I’ve seen a decent amount of posts on this issue but I just want to know how to make this a quick experience at the dealership.

I have a 2025 Flash with a January 3rd build date. In the last week I’ve noticed that Ford Pass shows the truck in sleep mode and that that my 12V voltage is around 12.4V. I keep the truck connected to the EVSE all day every day.

Today I noticed that my key would not open the frunk after two attempts, and I had to start the truck and then the frunk would open. To make things more interesting a few minutes after starting the truck the frunk opened on its own twice, I’m assuming due to my two previous attempts to open via the key.

This to me sounds like 12V battery issues so I’m going to take it to the dealer to deal with it. Any recommendations on how to get a quick battery replacement out of the dealer? I took a look at the battery BMS and it’s the updated part.

Sorry, have to ask. Just to confirm you haven't installed any after-market accessories (e.g., dashcam) or have anything plugged into the OBD port (like a BT dongle)? Interior lights not left on by a kid?

Good questions. Yes, yes, and yes. I have a dashcam but that’s only powered when the truck is on. I have an OBDII dongle, which should go into standby when the truck is off. Finally I also have LowJack on this truck.

Interesting….. What else would cause the truck to go into sleep mode. I drove the truck the previous day so it’s not like it was sitting for days on end.

Unhook all that stuff and see if the symptoms change/improve.

I used to have cheap BT dongle (the Veepeak one) and I think it may have caused some issues. I since installed the OBDLink MX+ and trust it much more to leave plugged in.

Will do. That said I’ve had this stuff since the first week of ownership and it’s been fine up until this week.

I have the same OBDLink.

I had similar issues with mine. It turned out to be a bad frunk switch. The switch has been replaced 2 times under warranty. The second time it went bad I already had it in the shop for strange 12v battery issues The Text said that they had had a few of them in with strange battery issues that were related to the bad switch. When he checked the switch it was bad. He unplugged it and ordered the parts. It was a few days for the parts to come in, but as soon as he unplugged it, the 12 V battery issues stopped the new switches in and everything’s fine now.

Good to know! I guess I’ll monitor for now and if the odd frunk behavior continues I’ll set up an appointment with the dealer.

What is your "quiescent average" value in carscanner? It should show if you have excessive drain when off

Looks like the quiescent average is 53mA. My quick interweb search is unclear if this is within normal range or not.
