Can you activate PPO without having to keep the truck "running" the whole time?

I am really tired of having to "start" my truck and leave it "running" all the time when using PPO....which could be for hours or even overnight. Everytime I have to start it, turn the headlights off, and shut down Android Auto (or the truck automatically steals my phone audio) and leave the screens running for hours....just to activate and keep my bed outlets. This just seems like way too many unnecessary steps.....and wasting my precious power on lighted screens. It would be soooo nice to just be able to push the button on the bed outlet module and have power (what's that button for then?). I think I saw other similar questions here and some thought that maybe this would be fixed in an OTA update. Is there a simpler way? Thanks.

Yeah, you need to keep a load of at least 100W plugged in or else it thinks the system is not in use so it shuts it off. It's been discussed here before to get a 110v timer and plug in a small 100w heater. You program the timer to come on for a couple seconds every 5 minutes to keep ppo alive with truck off.

I did it and it worked perfectly so I can use my dash cam system as surveillance cameras.

These are the two item's I use.

https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0BTLMNFB1?ref=ppx_yo2ov_dt_b_fed_asin_title&th=1

Since the heater is only cycled on for 2 seconds, it never gets hot enough to harm anything. I plug it in the outlet on the dash and let the timer and fan slide into the side pocket on the console.

Genius. But wouldn't it be better to have the heater in the bed just in case the timer gets spastic and keeps it on? Or is 100 watts not enough to worry about?
Edit: Your link is for a 200 watt heater

This is not what I'm talking about......I have plenty of load as I'm charging my other EVs from my truck. I'm just frustrated at how difficult it is to get PPO running in the first place. Why does the truck have to be "running"? Why do the screens have to be powered up?
When the truck is "running" all the time, it's always trying to connect to my phone and steal my phone audio......I have to turn off my Bluetooth and wifi. I have to turn the headlights to OFF. Why? Why not just allow PPO to run independently with the truck "OFF"?

Yeah 200W is what I landed on when searching so I grabbed it. I'd be more concerned with it in the open bed getting wet and shorting out. Worst case I might come back and find my console pocket warped from heat.

Obviously whatever ev your charging isn't enough load to keep the PPO activated, with the mod posted you DON'T have to leave the truck running all the time. Just toggle the slider on screen to keep it on with truck off.

im not sure exactly how you're able to to energize the bed outlets with the truck off. Ignore the load minimum for now please.

How are you energizing the bed outlets without having the truck "on?"
Like the OP, I would like to run PPO and not have the dash on.
Thanks

On my center screen I have the option to turn on either section of the truck, cab/frunk or bed or both.

I thought this was fixed for newer Lightnings but certainly not for my 2023. You are so right, it makes no sense to have the truck "on" for all the reasons you stated just to use PPO. I once left my truck "on" for 4 days after an extended power outage. @Ford Motor Company please fix this issue.

No. On the same screen there's a slider that says to keep the PPO on with truck off.
Do you have the 15" or 12" screen?

thanks again

EDIT:
I have no such option on my 12". Just a slider to set when it shuts the outlets off at a miles to empty setting. The outlets are only energized with my truck "on"
Kind of a bummer. The routine of shutting down headlights/AC/radio/carplay/mainscreen- and no way shut down or even dim the dash is a bit cumbersome. Encouraging you're able to pull it off, perhaps someday I'll get that feature.

Just push the unlock button on your remote, (and within 1 min.) reach into The bed, and push the pro power button. All outlets are ready to go.
No need to start the truck. That’s how it works in my ‘24.
And it activates the interior outlets too.

Pre-2024s do not yet have the ability to run PPO without the vehicle running.
