How much range should I expect with my ER battery towing a 4,000lb 21' trailer about ready to take a trip hoping I can get half at 150-160 can anyone with experience give me an idea?

There is a towing efficiency thread active right now, that may be your best bet.

150-160 is well over 1.0mi/kwh . That may be tough if you are wanting to do highway speeds

It’s best to assume that you will get 1/kwh. And that will depend on how heavy your foot is as well as weather and terrain.

4,000 lb. 21 ft. trailer is vague. Are we talking flatbed car hauler? Utility trailer with a fold up ramp? Enclosed trailer? It does make a huge difference.

My enclosed trailer results in 0.7 mi/kWh or less. But my 12' utility trailer was getting 2.0 mi/kWh yesterday. I would therefore expect a 21' flatbed to end up in the 1.5 ballpark.

Frontal area is key. Assume 1 mile per kWh driving 65mph.

"Highway speeds" can mean 55 - 60 MPH, or 80 - 85 MPH. These two speed ranges will return wildly different juice consumption rates while towing pretty much anything.

Monitor your local windspeeds for range estimation.

My trailer weighs a little over 5000 lbs. 8 feet wide and about 9.5 feet tall. I keep the sped down to about 60 as I want to be sure to make my charging stops. Generally on the flat I get about 1 to 1.1 kwh. Any incline or wind it drops to .8 or so. The biggest variable is wind you can't see it and you can't avoid it. If you are going through an area that is prone to wind you need to be more conservative in your range calculations.

our 3,800 typical high-front single-axle camper, with our PRO SR, would net 1.1-1.2mi/kwh at 'normal' roadway speeds, not including any interstates... and maybe even higher if REALLY conservative with speed... so, maybe between 110-140 miles from home, but, after DC Fast Charging, to the typical 80% SOC, you can see that the miles from there are only 88-112 ...

but, also, terrain, temp, traffic, and weather are going to play into it, as well...

I plan on around 1 mi/kwh, but it depends on terrain. My AS is about 3500 lbs. The guessometer automatically adjusts range to about half.

I averaged 1.1 mi/ kwh pulling 8.5x20 trailer 130 miles. Started with 100% charge and ended with 13%. Probably could have done better if I stayed below 70 mph. Truck has ER battery.

For sure You would have done better. Physics is physics and wind resistance i.e. drag is drag. Pretty much no matter what the fuel is, including hydrazine... the different fuels' energy simply adjusts the ratio of range loss.

I find that when towing with my ER Lightning, about 60 - 63 MPH is an optimal speed and anything above 68 MPH just burns electrons without a corresponding gain.

I agree the 1mi/kWh figure is a pretty safe estimate, but there are so many variables that could come into play. Elevation, wind, air density, all could hurt or play in your favor. Plan your route well though and you should be OK, might be smart to bring a generator!
