I for one have given up on Ford. The long wait for Lightning deliveries, price gouging by dealers, price fluctuations by Ford, etc. My Lightning lease runs out in a few months. Since Ford canceled the Lightning I doubt software updates will be coming so I won’t be buying out the truck but instead looking for an EV SUV. For me the EV is a life changer and I’m not drinking the ICE cool aid.
Hate to abandon the American automotive industry but Hyundai and KIA here I come.

I get this. We have a 24 Lightning and a 25 Mach E. We plan on keeping them for quite a few years, but unless Farley gets the boot and Ford gets back into EV's, we won't be buying another Ford.

21 Mach-e and 22 Lightning here. The Ford Options loan just matured on the Mach-e, but we are keeping it and rolling it over (get to keep the 1.4% interest rate) because it has been a great car and my wife likes it. As for my Lightning, I am not sure what I am going to do - I had planned to keep it somewhat longer term, but now I worry about parts availability in a few years. Still a little upside down on my loan, so won't be doing anything near term. We will have to see. With the Kids getting older (1.5 years from the youngest going to college) maybe I don't need a truck anymore and can shift to something smaller.

What's the saying....Fool me once....The $30k EV truck is already dead to me. There are consequences to messing (polite word) around with your pioneering customers.

Ford traded away their future for short term profits, politics and tax breaks. The words EV plus Ford now equal laughable at best. The trust is gone and that's why you don't see mainstream news wasting their time on it. Ford needs us pioneer/take a chance customers to get their universal EV platform off the ground. Unfortunately, many of us are now in the fool me twice, shame on me category.

Ford F-150 Lightning Is the $30k EV Truck Dead? 1000043238

Market an unrealistic price point and then only produce homologation level quantities while actively steering people to higher trims and watch your reservations fall off a cliff.

You would think they learned from the last time (and from watching the Cybertruck debacle). Hopefully they won't scale production against those inflated numbers and burn themselves again.

Today Farley hosted Trump in Dearborn today and announced a new ICE truck. According to this article this truck replaces the previously announced EV truck. It sounds like Ford is abandoning EVs except for the Mach-E.

”Farley explained that the newly planned ICE truck will replace the previously promised sub-$30,000 electric pickup truck that was slated for production at Ford's Blue Oval City facility in Stanton, Tennessee.”

Hopefully that’s a misunderstanding at Road & Track but maybe @Ford Motor Company can give us an update.

No changes in plans to deliver our next-gen truck on the UEV platform.

The Ford Universal EV Platform
While we shift F-150 Lightning to EREV, we are absolutely maintaining our plans and investment in the next generation of affordable EVs. The new Universal EV (UEV) platform is now more important than ever for Ford. UEV platform development is well underway. This flexible architecture will underpin a new family of smaller, more affordable, and cost-efficient vehicles—starting with a midsize pickup in 2027.

I’m sorry but Ford has completely abandoned the Lightning community/owners by making all these promises from the first announcement, thru delivery delays, recalls, poor software/navigation updates, pricing, only producing high-priced lariat or platinum trucks, and then ooops …we’re canceling production . I’m not putting trust in a company that changes directions every few years whether it’s political pressure or not.

Why would I want to carry around a gas tank and a small generator to charge my battery in a EREV or UEV. Improve the truck and software…Fix the battery charging architecture for faster charging. I’m out!!!

That's fine. Keep your Lightning. :)
I plan on it. But they shouldn't abandon a popular full size EV Light Truck and then only offer either a lower cost small EV truck or a full size truck with a gas engine and associated ICE crap that will help charge a smaller battery. Farley is way off the mark.

Really Brian. I appreciate you out here supporting the community but that's BS to me... I believed you about a months ago when you had similar Ford propaganda reassuring us that the aluminum shortage was just temporary, the plant shut downs were temporary (see here is a statement from Ford just like this one). You even said those sites and "journalists" posting the demise of the lightning didn't have a clue and that they were all garbage sites including the WSJ... It was reassuring when you said those things and I believed you. I am pretty sure you weren't aware of what was going on nor were you intentionally trying to mislead us but at the same time why should I believe anything you or Ford puts out. Sorry Brian but Trust has been destroyed.

That depends on what your definition of popular is. We may all like to think that but it certainly wasn't setting sales records.
What was the best selling full size EV truck in 2025 then?

Ford's future plans have fallen into the "I'll believe it when I see it" bucket. I'm not even interested in reading about it anymore.
