I had my truck charging on a level 2 charger for about 4 hours until I got a notification from the FordPass app about a "Charging Error". I go out into my garage and the charging had indeed stopped. There were no red lights (or any color).

I unplugged the charger from the truck and reconnected, it resumed charging. Minutes later, I get the same notification.

I looked at the FordPass app and Chargepoint app and both show that charging is still happening. I went back into the garage and could see it still charging too. I plugged in the OBD II that I have and turned on accessory mode.

The truck asked for my passkey, which it never has before. I also had my phone in the center console (I have PAAK setup). Before I could dig up the passkey, the truck turned off. I'm hoping this is a security measure?

I turned accessory mode back on and it started normally this time and stayed on for 10-15 minutes while I checked the Car Scanner app and until I turned it off. I didn't see any fault codes in the app or anything else that looked suspicious.

Should I be worried?

In later 2024 I had some of the high voltage battery modules replaced (failure), as well as the high voltage junction box and the 12V battery . It's been problem-free since.

I've had the "Charging Error" once or twice sporadically, but never multiple times within an hour.

You can always try pulling the charge port release in the frunk, likely not the cause, but it won't hurt either.

Try power cycling the Chargepoint EVSE at the circuit breaker.
Test at other L2 stations around town, or a friends L2.

Any chance you had an OTA update? Updates can disrupt communication and have been known to cause charge errors.

I had the same experience a few days ago. Cycling the charger CB fixed it. I doubt I'll ever know if it was the truck or the charger.

Not at that hour. My updates are scheduled for 12am. My last update was 3-5 days ago. I have however seen updates cause temporary issues with things like the front motor not receiving any power.

I'll try cycling the Chargepoint today since it's been a long time. The truck charged another 5 hours yesterday without issue. Fingers crossed...

Updates that do not immobilize the truck (during installation) can come at anytime.

I've a few messages along those lines with my Ford Charge Station Pro (FCSP) and my 2023 SR Lightning Pro.

Generally, turning off and on the FCSP breaker clears whatever issue it was having and restarts charging, clears the fault, whatever it was.

One or two times the FCSP faulted even when it wasn't on a charge cycle but had just been plugged into the truck, as if the plugging it in caused a glitch.

I did have a charging session not happen because I had the update time set for 12 midnight - changed it to 6am now - even though the charge session was set to start at 1am an hour later.

During an ice storm a few weeks ago, I had the truck connected (for heating if needed) but not charging and when I looked at the FCSP it had faulted. I was using a J1772 extension on the CCS1 from the FCSP so I wondered if there was a problem with that, maybe water got into the connection (I had it wrapped in plastic and under a wheel well where it was sheltered from the weather.

After checking the connection was dray, I unplugged the J1772 plug from the truck and the truck gave me a red circle but that disappeared a few seconds later. I reset the FCSP breaker and plugged it back in and everything went fine thereafter. No clue what the trouble was - maybe a utility glitch?

I have seen the red circle 2 other times when unplugging the CCS1 plug of the FCSP from the truck when no charge cycle was going on, but when the truck may have been using energy from the FCSP to warm the battery on very cold days. After that happened, the next time I unplugged it, I pressed the button inside the light circle like one would do if DC fast charging, and then unplugged it and no red circle. Go figure.

These faults are kind of a mystery but luckily infrequent.

I think maybe the truck charging system (and the FCSP) are overly sensitive to even very small unexpected voltage changes, like when the utility has a small voltage fluctuation, or when I unplugged it while it was providing energy for the heating system.

With J1771, pressing the button on the handle to remove the plug is supposed to avoid any such voltage glitch by stopping the energy transfer.

I used to monitor the utility for voltage fluctuations, and they do occur, but mostly at a low level like background noise. The charging system may be overly sensitive to those?

Since everything recovers, it has only been a minor inconvenience.

Besides the Ford app fault messages, one time, my FCSP reported that I had added NEGATIVE energy to the truck. For the antimatter flux capacitor maybe?

And right now, the Ford app and the truck are reporting on tire has 35psi and the others 36psi - my digital pressure gauge says they are all the same 36psi, so I am ignoring it.

One time the app told me my tire pressures were over 1000psi...

I had some trepidation about buying a 6,000 lb. computer with wheels before buying the Lightning, but so far it has just been mostly a few random anomalous annoyances - fingers crossed.

To err is human, to really screw up you need a...HAL 9000?
