Bought a Cooler for the trunk.... I enabled the LEAVE ON slider but it's off when I return to the truck. What am I missing?

Plenty of charge left (200 miles). Says it's pulling 90 watts.

You're not drawing enough power. There is a bug where if you don't draw enough power for about 6 minutes, PPO will shut off. The workaround that many of us have done is to get a short interval timer and a 100 - 200 watt heater. I found that with my 100 water heater, 1 second on and 220 seconds off will keep PPO on. Overnight I use a CPAP breathing machine that draws very little power, but the heater trick works fine. Here are links to the devices I have:

Only thing you're missing is that the feature is fundamentally broken. It's pretty much useless due to the "inactivity" timer. As noted above, you have to jump through ridiculous hoops to keep it alive so you might as well just leave the truck on.

Thank You! Well that blows... Can Ford fix it if I take it in? IE: It's broken?

Or can Forscan fix it?

How are people using this feature, leaving their truck's ON?

My Cooler will do 12/24v DC. Wonder if that would be a better way to use it. I don't want it on all the time, just when I need the cooler... IE: Ice Cream trips from the store to home.

One of these days Ford may fix it, but don't hold your breath!

Honest answer, just get the timer and heater I linked and use that. I recommend against running your fridge off the puny 12V battery for an extended duration. Else you could leave the 12V battery dead enough that you can't turn on the truck leaving you stranded.

My large cooler was not enough to keep it running

That's because once the cooler hits the set temp, it kicks off until it reaches the set temp again then it kicks back on.

I use a small heater and 110v timer to run every 5 mins for 3 secs. It's long enough to trick ppob into staying on yet not stay on long enough to get hot.

I had the same experience DJing at a block party for St. Patrick's Day. I left the truck on, for fear of the pro power turning off while I ran 2-1300W speakers almost maxed for 6 hours straight. I only drained maybe 1 mile of range, if that.

They could easily fix it in a software update by removing that silly low power / inactivity shutdown, yes. No there is no known fix in Forscan. But no a dealer can't do anything; the software gods would have to do it.

I just leave the truck "on" with the main shutdown timer disabled (there *is* a Forscan tweak to have that one permanently disabled if so desired) if I have my cooler running. I usually have the dog in the truck so I need it "on" for the climate control anyway.

This is my biggest complaint.. heck with coolers, etc… but clearly Ford hates dogs. They don’t care if Spot is kept toasty in the winter and cool in the summer. Very disappointed in Ford.

Right? It seems like a proper dog mode that disabled the window switches and seat heaters would be pretty easy. But no

I was wondering why they would have any 'inactivity" threshold in the first place - if they allow having PPOB when the truck is OFF, then the reserve will be in effect and protect the battery.

Why have a 100W use threshold?

Anybody know what Ford's rationalization is?

My 2023 requires the truck to be ON to use PPOB (unless a FORscan hack is implemented) but I still wonder about the threshold.
