We were setting up for the school carnival when I overheard the principal trying to figure out how to provide power for the sno cone truck. Their extension cords were too short to reach into the building. I walked over and said that I could power their sno cone truck for the night with my Lightning. It worked beautifully and they probably made over 400 sno cones in the 87 degree weather.

Lots of people were curious and asked questions about the Lightning. It’s funny how many people listen to all of the benefits abut then try to focus on what they think are the obstacles of owning an EV. They almost alway ask whether I’ve gotten through a winter with it, or ask how much money I’ll have to spend when the battery needs to be replaced. Hopefully my responses have helped to get people to think more favorably about EVs. .Their jaws drop when they hear that our off peak charging rates are so low that I pay about $15 for 900 miles.

Good job - hope you made some converts!

I get the same question sometimes about replacing the battery.
Range seems to be the biggest concerns for the uninformed.
Having to stop to recharge and it taking too long, as well as a scarcity of charging stations also come up.

I often steer them to the Plug In America web site for more information.

This is an awesome way to show the benefits of EVs in general and why all makes/models should at least come with one bank of 120V or 240V outlets. I also get the same questions regarding EVs whenever they notice the Lighting is a BEV. For the charging question, I just show them a map of the local area on Plugshare. Once they see how common the charging infastructure is, it usually quells the range anxiety questions as well.

Good job - hope you made some converts!

I don't even bother anymore. There are some real assholes at my job. For 3 years I've tried to talk to them about the myth that the battery needs replaced after 50-100K miles and all of the other myths... I just don't bother with trying to convince or convert anymore.

The ringleader clown at my job swears that I wasted my money and that EVs are dumb... this is the same clown that told me last week that he spends $35 per day to get to work and back in his 2025 F-250! I told him... "Good luck with that." I told him that "the sun fills my tank for free every day!" ⚡

I hear ya.

None so blind as those that will not see.

I used to get hassled by gas guzzlers when stopped at a light for example in my 2012 Nissan Leaf.

One time I misspoke and called the guy a "gashole" as I left him in my electron dust.

So I made this sticker as a result:

Ford F-150 Lightning Lightning saves the day at school carnival dont be a gashole-drive electric (2)

It kind of sums things up...:)

That was last week. “Spring“ has been cold.
It's all relative, I guess.
My friends from the Caribbean think 75F is cold, ha!
When I visit there I think "how do they work so hard in this heat?"

I have never heard the term "Gashole" before, but it does seem like the perfect name for those types of people.
I think I made it up accidentally when I was telling the guy he was something else, lol

I'm so with you on those that drive more than I do and they are rolling lifted w/35’s getting 13-15 mpg and diesel at that. My SIL got pissed paying 7$ diesel (WA typical rural $$) and just picked up a ’25 Lightning Platinum. He rolls 20K a year and he’ll notice the monthly gas card change. His wife took my advice and made sure their new house panel had a breaker pegged for an EV charger. That being said, contractors that work 1 tons, 1.5 tons, tow trailers w/small hoes, job site equipment etc. need GCWRs 20-30K+ to haul and BEVs aren’t there... yet. I don’t bother trying to convert but if they ask on cost savings I tell them. “Do the math. Look at how you use your vehicle”.
