$2,700 / 50 = 54 months or 4.5 years at monthly cost. At yearly $495 cost, 5.5 years.

I would rather turn it on a handful of months a year. Assuming 3, breakeven is 18 years.

I have three years included with my 2024 but wouldn't up it at the current price. Our Mach-e only came with 90 days and we didn't renew that when it was up until I think May when they offered the sub for 50% off on either a month or a year. I pulled the trigger on the year for 50% off and overall am glad I did.

It's still a lot of money, but I have taken the Mach-e on a couple trips since renewing and on one of the trips from Detroit to Cleveland the car basically drove the entire thing without intervention since it automatically does lane changes for passing slower vehicles. I have another trip at the end of this month to Indianapolis and will take the Mach-e again. If I didn't have all these longer trips planned where I would be taking the Mach-e since it will just be me, I probably wouldn't have bothered.

That is the absolute limit though. I will never pay $500/yr.

Yep, that's the math. BC is a luxury feature and not a requirement. That's the cost of one less bill to think about and still have the feature available when I want and need it for highway driving. Also, who knows if the fee is going to stay fixed or even offered at a monthly rate. Ford may increase the costs or just offer as annual subscription. I just want a bit more BC coverage area. The system works great where it works. I wouldn't trust Comma or other after market level 2.x system.

Unless it is a divided highway, handsfree will never work.

We drove from MIchigan to British Columbia, around 2,400 miles, and back, in March. Handsfree ended in North Dakota well before the border, and never resumed until we returned (except for a tiny stretch) as every highway had cross roads, so not "divided". Never had a trip where more than 1/2 of it was hands on like that.

Curious how many people end up renewing or paying for Blue Cruise? I have had for the last 35 months and it expires in a few weeks. I have no intention. It is not the greatest tool and when I have used it it is usually only available for short segments.
I knew going in it was not going to be permanent feature but I was hoping they would have modified the pricing or improved the quality and availability.
We have to as a unit refuse subscription services for vehicles. It's an extremely slippery slope and you'll never truly own the vehicle. In my opinion the things the vehicle comes with are the things that should stay with it and if people start paying for subscriptions, they can cancel or change at any time and you never actually have ownership of your vehicle even if it's paid off.

I wouldn't care if it was flawless, if it's subscription, I will never pay for it in a vehicle. It's just too much of a slippery slope

I think the general consensus is the same as mine. If it worked, was free or cheap then it might be worth it. I had it for free then paid, but it’s not reliable. It’s really not all that helpful and the cost is absurd.

Had it for four years and it runs out at the end of this month. Enjoyed it lot of roads in upstate New York available. Used it two years ago to go and returned from Naples. Really enjoy it but not $500 annual fee. Will not be renewing it.

I've had BC since I took ownership of Sparky July 7, 2022 and use it daily for my commute. It is incredibly valuable to me, but the cold hard fact is that we have hit the hardware limits of our trucks. So no new features. Then there is the fact that there has only been a single expansion of the mapped roads (I believe, please correct me if I'm wrong) and we simply are not receiving any new value for an ongoing subscription. Having a hardware path forward, or continued improvements to the mapped roads would justify a subscription, but as it stands it's not worth the cost.

I truly wish things were different, but for all the changes Ford has underwent at this point in time they are an amazing hardware company first, and an OK software company second. Creating a new culture around software development while being constrained with traditional (if evolving) auto manufacturing is incredibly difficult. I don't fault Ford, just wish these periods of change were more consistently focused on the where the puck is going to be, not the whims of politics where hundreds of billions of dollars are at stake.

So like others I've purchased a Comma 4 and will be testing it a couple of weeks from now. As an aside I had a deer run into my driver's side door and the body shop has to replace the entire door, possibly the rear too. Thank goodness for insurance.

The problem with BC is that it requires mapped roads. In most of Canada, it's basically useless (just do a google search for blue cruise maps) They don't even have the major east/west trans Canada highway mapped and I haven't seen any effort to add more roads. Since I have owned the truck, I've literally had to purposely drive out to some short roads just to try it out (what a complete waste of a 3 year trial). Cool novelty, but who in their right mind would actually subscribe to this in Canada. I guess there may some very specific instances where someone's daily route is mapped but that is going to be very niche up here. If Ford is serious about having these types of subscriptions, they need to put the effort in and increase the amount of users its services would be useful to.

Does anyone know what is involved for Ford to map a road? I would assume it's just a vehicle, like the Google Maps vehicle that they just drives down the route. Maybe someone then has to enter some road signs or something.... In 5 years...How is it possible that they couldn't drive the TransCanada highway is beyond me. That tells me that the effort in the service is crap and I have zero interest in supporting crap services.
I tried it with the free into offers, and I even living just west of Boston find that major highways are often only partially mapped. Like Rt 2 from Boston area to Gardner, its about 80% there dropping out in city areas. Horrible. Then worse yes the rediculous lane maintaining smart cruise control is basically a pain in the ass item obviously made to sell blue cruise. I always have my hands on the wheel but every 15 seconds if I have not moved the steering wheel against the cruise controls input, I get that stupid warning to keep my hands on the steering wheel. My Hyundia and our previous Tesla were both immensly better that Fords rediculous lane maintaining cruise. Yes that is without blue cruise..

Wow... I thought it was just Canada... If full major routes are not even available in a major hub such as Boston, what the heck is Ford thinking? If this was their first or second year, I would give them some slack as they build up mapping but here we are 5 years later... Sounds like the higher ups made a decision that they want subscription money but then decided they didn't want to fund or advance the programs that they are wanting people to pay for. Doesn't work that way and once you tarnish your name, you're done. BC is known as a dud to me and so many others as our free trials end. Those are lost opportunities, and worse yet, we are advocates telling our friends that BC is useless. BC should be free to all until they get the system to a point where a good portion of people find it worthwhile paying for.

I also Agree... The non blue cruise (lane assist cruise) is even worse than blue cruise. Ford needs to come up with something different to monitor if peoples hands are on the wheel because how they do it now does not work. The point of cruise control is to have less stress on predictable stretches of road (usually straight), not have your blood boil as you have open yelling sessions with your truck. "Put your hands on the wheel"...."my hands are on the wheel you bleep bleep bleep" lol... I now avoid cruise on my expensive "smart" truck so that I don't get stressed out. lol.

I had 4 years free which ended in May. I only use it on my trips to / from Maine / Boston -- maybe 10 times a year. Not worth $50 a month. Maybe $5 a month; that's it.

Yeah, I think there is enough value to it that I would pay if Ford was truly taking on a cost to keep maps updated for hands free and sending vehicles out to ensure the hands free works properly, which they claim is where the cost largely goes and since I haven't seen evidence to the contrary I will give them the benefit of the doubt.

That said, it's absolutely a $5-10/mo at most value to most people, and since the above reason doesn't translate to a per-vehicle cost, Ford would likely do better if they lowered it to $5-10/mo because far more people would buy it and probably eclipse the small number of current buyers.

They also need a "Family Plan" for many of these services. Even if I found BlueCruise was worth $20+/mo, we have two BC capable vehicles and are almost never using them on trips at the same time. So even if I get BC, it will only ever be on the vehicle we road trip with the most. I can't imagine paying $1000/yr for BlueCruise on both vehicles, that's insane.

You would think Ford would offer a more reasonable subscription price and make their money on the volume of purchasers. They have already paid for and installed the hardware/software so it should all be 'gravy'.
