I have a 2023 Lightning XLT that originally had a module out of balance issue, the dealer wanted an amazing amount to fix it which I did not have so I had to let the truck sit for a bit. It will not allow charging at all.

I borrowed a mongoose from AJZRIDE (thank you so much) and paid for a 30 day subscription to FRDS. When powering on the truck and running the diagnostics the BECM and BCMC modules won't respond at all.

Would the HV part of the battery being dead really keep those components from communicating or is there another issue to be looking at first?

I am considering putting in a donor pack from salvage but wont to be sure that will fix the problem.

Is there any way to check the BECM without taking the battery out of the truck?

Will changing a battery pack for a good one cause the BECM to show up in FRDS?

What else do you think I should know - I have no experience at this and not flush with cash to pay ford to hunt and peck especially because they wanted to mark up the module more than $2k over the parts catalog and would not let me buy it from another dealer in Florida.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Yes, it made it to 102k miles and ford was like F- you its your problem now. the whole ford experience was one that pissed me off, they would not even give me an official on letter head type estimate, just a list of parts and a price. It has 106k now on it but its dead.

I cannot imagine a dead HVB causing the BECM and BCMC to go offline, those are powered by 12v systems. I feel like you have a much bigger issue. Do you get any dash alerts when you try to crank the truck? Did you drive it home from the dealership? it almost looks like a module is disconnected.

Initially when it was reporting the out of balance it was drive-able but degraded, then it was showing low power; It gives the wrench symbol but does not tell me what is wrong. I had originally driven it home from the dealership but it stopped working all together a few days later so it sat since nov because I did not have the money to pay the nearly 9k they wanted to fix it.

Did you contact the BEV Ford team to ask for a bit of consideration on cost? [BEV Hotline: 1-866-631-3788, or 800-392-3673, 571-831-5352; @Aminorjourney suggested contacting Ford executives on LinkedIn. Maybe Twillter/X? Are you original owner?] 102K miles exactly at time of problem or were there any indications before 100K miles? SR or ER battery? Build Date (month, year on driver's door sticker)? Any loan sharks available to front some money for repairs to get it back on the road and save on gas costs? How much DCFC charging vs. at home? Thanks for answers.

This was a Build of 11/22 We had power train faults that were caused by the shifter, they replaced it be every now and then it came back but could not get it to do it with them so they did nothing, I think that was the early indicators.
The shop said they called ford and asked for consideration and they said no. They gave me a number (not one of those) to call and and they said no right away, did not want to discuss any options. I can try calling them at those numbers and appreciate you giving them to me /advice

Here is a screenshot of the toolbox.

You need to check this connection. C144

THe two modules offline are in and out of this connector.

They are the last two on this chain. So if this connector has issues or the High speed can is not going in it will cuase these two to not be online and thus causing the issues you are having

He's on the east side of Austin.

I agree it looks like the module is unplugged. I take it C144 is on the battery itself?
Correct.. On the front of the battery

Thank you guys, what you are saying makes sense, I tried reaching into get a pull on it but cannot, working on getting a mobile mechanic to come out and lift the truck up and pull the skid plate down so we can disconnect and re-connect the connector. There is a possibility that it is a problem on the inside of the battery as well. Not sure if I want to take it back to Ford from previous experience as well they were the last to have hands on that connector.
