2025 Lightning Lariat - Driver's Seat Left Side Cracking

Was out running errands today and when getting back into the truck I thought there was some dirt smudged on the left-hand side of the drivers seat.

Went to wipe it off and nothing happened. Then I realized it was a crack in the material. It's sort of hard to see, but you can just make out that the line continues on both sides of the crack. It's like the repeated in/out, up/down, has worn out that one spot and split the material.

Has anyone else had this happen? I thought I remembered reading some posts here, but so far haven't found them.

I stopped at my local dealer, and they took some pictures to submit to Ford Warranty (I'm still under 14K and less than 1.5yrs in). Hopefully they will approve it and replace the seat/cushion.

I didn't originally buy the truck from this dealer (I bought my previous F-150 Powerboost here), but they've been awesome with issues/service.

Mine is cracking at another point on the seat also, poor quality materials, wish they used 100% leather on the seat.

Seriously. Never seen a seat do this so quickly. I've only had the truck for 14 months, and I don't drive it that much. I know I'm not "light", but it's ridiculous that it is cracking like this.

And I doubt it's heat/cold related; the truck spends 90% of the time in the garage. I think in the whole time I've had it I only parked it in the driveway two, maybe three times.

I had a mystery hole appear in the side panel of my Platinum seat. I had a local guy replace the panel. It was a reasonable price but my truck didn't have a seat for a couple days. I used a folding chair to move it out of my driveway. Don't recommend.

Reminds me of my old Boy Scout Scoutmaster. He had a Custom Van (Captain's Chairs, wall to wall rugs, sconces, etc. etc.) that he took to a Grateful Dead concert. Someone broke in and stole the chairs and other stuff. He ended up driving around on a milkcrate until he got a new driver's seat.

The milkcrate then became the passenger seat which we all fought over to sit on when headed out to camping trips/etc. If you didn't get the crate, you sat on the rug floor in back.

I've been using Meguiar's leather cleaner 3-in-1. Wipe the seats down every few months. So far been safe from the leather drying out. I ran out of those wipes.

I'm moving onto 303 leather cleaner and conditioner. Hopefully that does just as well.

The seats aren't leather? Or a difference between Lariat and Platinum?

iirc parts of the lariat seat is leather, part of it isnt. i also use 303 on it, so far so good.

The center part is leather, the bolsters might be leather, everything else is definitely not leather.

I'm not sure what difference it makes. It's pretty hard to determine what is leather and what isn't by looking at the outside layer.

Durability of leather over vinyls hands down win in my book.
I'd like all the surfaces of premium seats be made of highest quality materials.

Side and back panels are synthetic materials, the Platinums have a higher quality seating surface vs the Lariat (both are leather).

My '22 Platinum had several cracks in the driver's seat around 18 months ago when it was still under warranty. The dealer replaced the cracked cushions.

I think this is because when u get In and out you slide your body across the leather. You need to lift up and put your foot on the side steps and step in and out of the seat instead of across. Sucks I know. I did this to two seats on my f250 before adjusting how I enter and exit the vehicle to avoid torsional pressure on the seat cushion and leather-ish material

my folding center console and back bolsters vinyl are turning stiff, sign that it will crack soon. I’ve been using Koch Chemie Top Star to help protect it. My 2016 mustang also cracked after like 6 years, pretty low mileage. Mustang always garage kept too. Our Tesla will way higher mileage still looks brand new with its vinyl.

Yeah , and I wouldn't mind a console lid that stayed open on it own, too. OTOH , that 's asking alot of an 70k+ vehicle... Or Android auto that stayed connected . Or software updates that'd actually download. I never understood the seemingly blind loyalty to Ford. I understand it even less now. My 1st & last, ford sure.
