100% range test [follow along]

FWIW. Starting from 100%, on an unseasonably warm 70° California day. I did an 80 mile round trip on Sunday, all freeway/highway. Returned with 250 miles range. Speed was 55-70. Twas a first.

That's impressive for freeway, was there a lot of traffic to help drafting? I did find that 60mph avg netted me very good mileage with moderate traffic. I try to stay 60-65mph on my commute, but I'm only on the freeway for 4 or 5 miles. so I don't think it impacts me too much.

Not really, although the country highway that made up half the trip is curvy enough to keep my speeds low in the range during that section. I think the message is that if you drive in similar conditions to the EPA testing, that you’ll get similar range.

15% used today. Made one extra trip about a mile that I didn't log, was just driving to a lab. Adding an extra screen grab for starting, garage is not heated... its just really warm this week and it gets full morning sun. Means I don't need to use climate. I am using AC on auto 1, 72F on the way home.

Day 3, 17% used. Had the weird *vampire drain* and dropped 2% after starting up to leave work. It's still in the ball park of what I use but annoying. I wish I knew why it's dropping. The temp increased so I think I can rule that out now. Part of it I think was being on the edge of 64 (I think it showed 65 on the dash). Either way here's the screenshots.

You can see a couple kWh lower energy after sitting in the parking lot all day. The displayed SOC didn't update until I started driving, but the actual shows that about 1.2 kWh was lost. I haven't seen this ( or at least haven't noticed it ) until the past month or so. I sometimes drop 3% displayed. I didn't notice this at the higher SOC, will be interesting to see if it happens at the lower. Maybe it's a quirk of the middle part of the battery? I used to charge to 85% but did start lowering that to 70% for min/maxing battery life.

Watching .... glad your documenting this, I wish I understood more....

Have you been plotting the results, I wonder if these vampire drops can be correlated to HVB voltages stabilizing after a rest ... I believe plot for the discharging HVB is not a straight line, so perhaps when the pack voltage stabilizes and settles the reported SOC may need to change without apparent reason??

Thank you all for doing these tests. Good info. I have a late 2022 build of a 2023 base XLT, standard range, max trailer tow. I tow a 7000# trailer locally, use the truck for grocery store runs, etc.I usually L1 charge at home, but can do L2 when needed. Zero range anxiety, except for the one time a storm hit and I lost power, then needed to tow the next morning. I always charge L1 or L2 whenever I can and it is all good.

I think the drop in efficiency yesterday was from the weird midday shenanigans. The past 3800 miles on Trip 1 show 2.7 average. I suspect that will be the end average for this test as well.

@Grumpy2 That's a good thought about the charge curve. I haven't been keeping super good records until recently. If I find the time, I'll start entering them in a spreadsheet to generate a plot and see if there are any trends. Since temperature and other factors can influence the data, I'll try to note that as well.

Trip home and done for the day. These last two had no freeway, all city streets.

Supposed to be breezy today. I should have enough that I'll run weekend errands before topping back up.

Yesterdays efficiency 2.83 MPK infers a remaining range of 140.9 miles, 100->0% = 369.2

It'll be interesting to see how you do with the high winds today.

The windy weather didn't materialize. Yesterday's driving was largely the same as Thursdays, with a stop to pick up kids and no freeway.

This weekend is a short trip for kids practice today, church tomorrow, maybe a run to the grocery store. Should be right around 10-12% I think, then I'll charge it back to 100% to see if we get a different total energy.

Ended today with 14%, church tomorrow would probably push it under 10% so I'm calling it here. Plugged in and set to 100%.

Forgot to record arrival for kids practice, but essentially this trip x2 for distance. The MPK there was better since that was the down hill portion.

Run to pick up pizza, includes there and back as didn't turn off the truck.

If you could also post the FCSP insights log if you're using it, as well as the end of session Fordpass charging report (after you unplug)

Looks like the original projected range of 334 miles wasn't far off from you real experience plus projected remaining range to 0% of 38 miles + 303.4 miles = 341.4 !!
