EPAS (rack & pinion) failure out of warranty

2022 Platinum with ~ 75,000 miles.

My EPAS / rack & pinion just started showing the telltale sign that the bearing in the motor is going bad. This seems to be a common Ford issue (lots of videos online of this sound) with other models having recalls in the past.

Part appears to be on back order. Anyone else have this fail outside of warranty? Did the dealer want a crazy price or did you go to an independent suspension shop?

I’m worried fact that it’s a lightning is going to jack up the price on an already expensive repair.

It retails at $1400. Its not too big a deal to replace. It does have to be flashed.
