Hi. Could you offer a bit of advice? I'm thinking about purchasing an F-150 Lightning that has been in a minor fender bender because it will fit the budget better. When the front left corner has been hit as shown in the photo, what would you expect to replace other than the fender, bumper cover, tire, and headlight? (Yes, I expect the auto dealer to offer a substantial discount to cover the parts and labor.)

Thank you for your advice!

Bumper sensors, possibly the radar, suspension, needs alignment. Note that the headlight has a list price of $1,500+.

And call around to get insurance quotes before making the purchase. I bought my Lightning recently and received some quotes that were "eye popping." Also keep in mind when buying a used vehicle, normally the insurance company is going to want to inspect it before issuing the policy.

Thank you! Hopefully a salvage yard would have a headlight for less.
Not to dissuade you but it’s likely not as easy as just swapping in a salvaged headlight. The model in the picture appears to be a Pro. The LDCMA/B headlight modules require programming and using one from another trim will result in errors.

Take it to a trusted body shop and get an estimate. You’ll get a manifest of parts that need replace.
Theres always a risk of hidden damage, but this is as close as you’ll get.

I had far less damage than that around a taillight. Final bill $5300, and they didn't have to replace sensors or calibrate anything. I would bet you are looking at more that $5K. Doesn't take much.

How much money are you saving? That could be a $3000 repair or it could be a $15000 repair. I wouldn't take the chance for less than a $15000 discount.

Also, without someone looking at it you don't know if suspension or frame parts are broken. A bent frame would be a hard no at any price for me.

Just my opinion. It's possible it's a straight forward repair and a good deal. I'm focusing on the unknown.

Thats odd to me. I've never once had an insurance company inspect a vehicle i purchased. I gave them the vinyl, etc and I was insured.

The front of my 2022 Lightning was damaged by a tow operator. The initial estimate by the collision shop was $3,500.00.
The final cost was $9,800.00. Neither of the headlights were damaged.
The damage in your photo doesn't look like much. But until a skilled body shop technician takes it apart your risk versus reward may not work out in your favor.

If this is coming from a dealer then they already have an estimate. Ask them for their estimate and then double it for your discount. Having dealt with some similar deer/coyote/hail damage claims that are on on lesser vehicles, I'd put the repairs at up to 15K or more. The fender, etc. needs paint. I would want a discount of almost double the damage just for taking a damaged vehicle. I think if you took the picture to a body shop your insurance carrier uses they could probably give a good estimate of the damage and brackets underneath through their computer programs they use nowadays subject to any frame damage of which there probably isn't any but could have some possible front wheel control arm, steering, and suspension damage on that front wheel.
