An old school take produces an efficient hybrid modular & scalable engine. The secret is the steady state generator operation.

Pipo moteurs has a good concept but they've got a long way to go to meet efficiency and reliability. Unless that's the whole point, a gas guzzling, underpowered hybrid?

I bought an electric truck so I could get away from all associated maintenance inherent with internal combustion. Hard pass.

Weird to see ARAMCO on a motor; wife's grandfather was a VP for Aramco in Saudi Arabia back in the 40s and 50s and literally introduced air conditioning to vast swaths of Saudi Arabia that can hit 120-130 degrees F (the Americans couldn't handle working there otherwise lol). They sure have come a long way (but are still a little-known brand in the US) and I wish Phil was still alive to see this...
Thanks for sharing, I'd not seen this and will share with family <3

Thermodynamic efficiency over 40%? That's a pretty tall claim for an ICE. Not impossible, but everything including the phase of the Moon would have to line up just right. With the high compression (thus temperatures) emissions will probably be a concern. Maybe VW can help them pass emissions tests, and someday we'll get more chargers that sometimes work. :p

Their engineers seem to have done a good job thinking at the edges of the box. But it's an incremental improvement, nothing game changing, and I wouldn't want one in place of my frunk.

Perhaps they can put millions of those in the Saudi desert, convert the oil to electrons right out of the derrick and (somehow) ship the electrons to us bypassing the Hormuz?

Marketing puff piece written by a PR team trying to convince us we don’t need EVs. The Atkinson cycle Toyota hybrids have just over 40% thermal efficiency and Nissan’s e-power series hybrid achieves 50% efficiency. Both companies that I trust more than a bunch of consultants to create good engines. https://www.nissan-global.com/EN/INNOVATION/TECHNOLOGY/ARCHIVE/E_POWER50/
On a side note anyone else notice that 2026 is the year Toyota/Suburu has quietly rolled out the breadth of sensible EVs that will convince millions of Camry and RAV4 owners to buy EVs?

If it is a small car and burns oil, it is a waste of time.
