Ford doesn’t supply tools - ever. What the dealership provides vs what techs must supply out of their own pocket varies by dealership. I would expect the dealership to provide a power supply, but who knows?
I'd think they should as well, there are several highly specialized tools for the HVB service process, I'd hate to think each EV tech had to put his hand in his own pocket to fund them.

About a year ago I had a cardiac ablation to control paroxysmal atrial fibrillation. A catheter was passed into my heart, punctured a wall of my heart, and used radio frequency to kill some tissue that was too electrically active. The cardiac electrophysiologist didn't write a novel but he thoroughly documented what he did and a clear description of the procedure is available to me in my electronic medical records, including his descriptive findings as he went along. The description is not very long, only key vitals and observations implying the success of the operation. So, in the 21st century, computer science has enabled thorough documentation. It's just not everybody has yet arrived in the 21st century or has the financial wherewithal to support that level of performance.

My wife will be heading in that direction soon, she was at Boston Medical Center last Wednesday for the first phase of treatments, TEE/Cardioversion, it was partially successful, the cardiologist recommends ablation as the next procedure if her AfiB doesn't chill out.

Yesterday, I was reviewing her online records, and amazing details about what the team documents from preliminary intake, then admission to day surgery unit and narrative notes as the process went along.

Last week I took my 2022 Lightning to the dealer for a 10K mile service, including some software recalls and updates. They decided not to perform one of the recalls because they had bricked another Lightning that morning while trying to perform the same recall update. This thread makes me wonder whether failing to use an adequate power supply might be part of their problem…
Or they didn't use one at all, or hooked it up directly to the battery posts instead of downstream of the BMS sensor.

Why ever it happened, they did something wrong.

You might message Brian @Ford Motor Company with that dealership info so they can be contacted and helped if they haven't been in touch with Ford already.

Especially something that’s rather expensive that doesn’t get used all that much. It’s not like a socket set!

That's why I do my own. Of course they've decided to more than double the cost of a 2 day license now though.

Looks like the same one I use.

When mobile tech was doing a software upgrade he was monitoring the 12 v on the laptop screen. After a while he got concerned with the truck loosing 22 voltage and jumped up and connected the Lightning 12 volt to his F-550 jumper output and completed the upgrade.

When the mobile service tech came to do my recall upgrades, he had a very large beefy 12-volt power supply and made a comment to the effect of how it was important to have a big power supply.
