Any idea why the Emporia system would show a dip in power usage periodically? I do not remember seeing this before. Hmm, I see the dips happening at minimum power usage as well so it may be just something with the monitor. Or communications. Weird, it is happening every 2 hours showing a dip, on the hour! Like 3:00 p.m. 5:00 p.m. 7:00 p.m. 9:00 p.m.@TaxmanHog . Thx!

If I was a betting man, I'd bet that something in the sensor or application chain is resetting or refreshing a session every 2 hours. Probably some kind of random instability issue was identified that occurs sometimes after 2 hours, so they just setup a session refresh every 2 hours to get around that.

I've also seen the drops in previous charging sessions, though my last couple of sessions were short this weekend, so no dropouts shown, I took advantage of the EvGo DCFC credits on Saturday, then topped off to 90% end of the day and again on Sunday to close out my weekly charging record.

The last multi hour session was on 5/24, but the data log by the minutes/hour has aged off so I only have the day and week data rolled up and can't see if the ~2 interval was my experience, I'll grab a screenshot next later this week, preparing for and recovering from a trip to Boston (Logan) to pick up family flying in.

Not sure if it's the same issue or not but the Emporia cloud was suffering some downtime over the weekend that definitely caused weird spikes on my end.

I was just gonna say...

The log isn't super granular so it could just be that a measurement or two is missing for whatever reason and what is perceived as a "dip" is just the mean value over time.
If you can zoom in / look at the event itself you'll see / know if the reading at the time truly was 5kW or if the data is missing.

Confirmed. But I think it's just an app glitch. When I zoom into hour detail, on my last session (7 pm - 4:11 AM), it showed the dips at 10, 12, 2, and 4ish.

But then I zoomed out to Day and back in to hour and the dips were at different times. Every time I zoom out and back the dips change or sometimes not even there. Here the 2:00 glitch moved to 2:30 and then after another unzoom/zoom, moved to almost 3:00. No longer at 2:00. And nothing at 4:00 now.

The next time I charge, I'll look at the live view of the data stream, it might be dropped data or it could be a slow down in the rate.

If you have a recent charging session, pull the data log, inside the zip file are various log's, look at the by the second data table which is only available for the current day.

I was able to download by-the-second data for 3 hours for my session. Stayed a constant 9.2-9.3 kW despite the graph showing a dip around 9:59 (but only sometimes - see my post above). There were no missing 1-second values, each hour had 3600 entries (60 minutes x 60 seconds).

For the time period between 9:55-10:00 values were 9.2-9.3kW for each second and all seconds were there despite the graph dip at 9:59.

Still convinced it's an app bug in summarizing the raw data into a graph.

Charged today to get HVB up to 90%, from 70% to see if I can replicate your experiences.

Took in about 32.78 kWh per emporia, there were a couple of dipps, the first was just a little over an hour into the session, then another shortly afterwards, nothing further by the end of the session.

Hourly recap.

After returning from Boston early this morning, I recharged from 60% to 90%, this time just one dip.

Tried downloading the Emporia log file, for some reason it would not give me anything for midnight to to 0600 this morning so I couldn't see how long the slow down lasted.

This session started around 0115 hrs

Any chance that's when your AC or other large appliance is kicking on and creating a power surge?

In my case, no.... my detached garage is on an independent service feed directly from the adjacent pole, no other major loads.
