I want to thank Martin Rebuilds & Zachary Carpenter for choosing Trucked Up EVs to 'test pilot' & showcase EverDrive using various power sources.
It's true. I can charge while I drive. Unlike other EREV concepts that have yet to come to market, I choose the type of power source.

Hey Simon, Good to see you on the forum. I’m hoping this will be the answer to more towing range and or being able to camp and use small wattage devices without the truck turning it off. All while keeping the LVB topped off and adding some juice to the HVB. Can’t wait for more info/testing results.

Couple dedicated smart engineers developed a system to increase the range of the Lightning trucks.
I expected that would happen sooner than later. It is great that we have that option if we are willing to pay for that innovation.
We don’t know what this Ever Drive looks like. I am guessing another add on to our truck beds. We need to see what this thing is all about. Physical evidence.
Since my retirement, I’ve been traveling a lot towing my 25ft camper. Recent developments have checked out tow behind campers that are powered by their own battery packs and their drives. Such campers is the Lightship, which is built in Colorado.
There is the physical evidence and what that camper can do. There is also the price tag associated with such cool EV campers. That technology works and there is physical evidence that you can touch and see.
We need to see the set up to get interested. $$$ is another big variable.
I guess Truck Up EVs will keep us informed. I am interested to see the product first before I consider it.
As I described above, the Lightship is in the same league of powered Class A motorhomes price range. It has a lot of advantages if you want to tow it with your Lightning. Consider that you can have it for $160K.
So how much this Ever Drive is going to cost? That will be the deciding factor.
It is cool that are folks who can experiment with their trucks to make them better at what an EV truck can do.
No negativity from my part. Just show me more so I can make an informed decision.

Better option would be a bespoke battery pack where the spare is under the truck and possibly a second in the frunk, although I love my frunk

Yeah, I won't give up the frunk. That control module in the "cooler" area of the frunk, I could deal with.

There is a guy on YouTube that has a trailer with EV battery packs in it. He uses it to haul and increase range. The batteries are directly connected to the HVB packs of the truck, so range is instant. With the EverDrive system we'd be limited to the max AC/DC conversion of the truck's built in charger. Maybe 11kw or 22 if you have the older trucks with dual chargers for 80amp EVSEs. Either way it's not an instant DC/DC connection so you're waiting for that added juice no matter what you use to plug into it.

They've said everdrive is source-neutral.. whether its a generator or a battery pack, yes.

It'd need to be a battery pack with inverter to AC current to work with the j1772 connector and go thru the trucks charger, unless it could make use of the CCS DC connection. I do not know if EverDrive uses just the AC or both the AC and DC pins.
