This is a final update regarding the APIM replacement. I installed the European APIM unit that I purchased in the UK from a Ford Ranger.
After installation and turning on the screen, the display appeared distorted because the Ford Ranger uses a smaller screen. The only thing I needed to do was connect with FORScan, go into APIM AsBuilt (Edge), and select Load Factory Settings. After that, the screen returned to normal.
The navigation is now working perfectly and everything is fully completed.

While you were down there, did you happen to note if any of the connectors were non proprietary, say HDMI or DVI?

Thanks for this information — I honestly didn’t know this was possible.
I’ve already ordered European TCU and APIM modules and I’m planning to program them myself. If I had known that European software could be installed without swapping the data module, I would have gone this route as well.
I’ve been in contact with Ford Norway and they clearly told me they do not do this kind of reconfiguration. I also wasn’t aware that a dealer in Denmark could handle it.

I just jumped into this thread from page 2 because iI don't want to wade through all the responses.

If you have the ability (or you have a local Ford dealer who has a valid FDRS account) it is possible to go to the TCU module in FDRS and select the Provision tool. By selecting the area/country and provisioning your TCU it should then connect up just fine.

As has been posted here many times Ford uses AT&T here in the states, but in the UK that same service is provided by Vodaphone (pretty sure it's still Vodaphone anyway). So it's a matter of figuring out who the provider is in the country you're in and selecting that provision code to have your TCU adjusted.

We've seen the same things with US service members stationed in Germany who brought their US spec Fords to use while they are there.

Don't buy a new TCU...that's unnecessary, just have the one you already have "Provisioned" using FDRS (or FORScan? it is afterall just an asbuilt change...). You can ask @rugedraw to chime in since I think he has some experience with this.

EDIT: Ah, I see you sorted it with buying an EU TCU. Should be interesting to see what the asbuilt values are for that TCU versus the one you removed.

I commented on the first page. Swapping the TCU to another one is not the correct way to do it. It will cause a part number mismatch on the server side which will cause a bottleneck for updates. It has to be converted from eSIM to SIM. @hb.sagen did it to his truck and has everything working including OTA updates.

Do you have any proofs, screenshot or something other, that via FDRS, using service procedure "Provisioning mode" you can change the region and carrier? Have you ever seen it by yourself?

Hi everyone, after checking this thread with great interest for the last couple of weeks hereby my two cents. I spent a couple of years in the US where I bought a Lightning and Ranger Raptor. Drove a year in the Netherlands with both vehicles after which I decided to do a TCU swap last week. Found a EU Ranger TCU and put it in the Lightning. Without changing anything Fordpass worked again (was already registered in the US) but forscan showed a bunch of codes for the TCU; open circuit, sos call, module incompatible. Decided to load the built data of the original TCU: only one incompatible code remains. After a couple of hours the car started to update: sync software, US bluecruise file, trailer module (recall) and more. The region code on the TCU is set on US, on the APIM I put it at RoW to enable European speed sign recognition etc. I'm happy with the swap but now in doubt what to do with the Ranger Raptor, less need for the Fordpass to work but the software updates would be nice. Might just go with the sim replacement.

I bought mine from the UK, using the part number recommended by Ford Norway.
The APIM I purchased is actually from a Ford Ranger. So in theory, it should be fully compatible hardware-wise. Now it’s just a matter of how Ford handles the region/software side.

If you mean the coding, I can tell you that you don't need to do anything at all. The truck will recognize the TCU automatically. I didn't make any coding changes or modifications. I simply installed it, and after a few hours it connected to the 5G network. Then, after 2 or 3 days (I don't remember exactly), I started receiving OTA updates. So, just to be clear, I didn't change anything.
If you have a US-spec F-150 Lightning, this TCU is all you need. If your navigation maps don't work, then when you buy the TCU, also get the European APIM. With those two parts, you'll have working maps, built-in navigation, and OTA updates
