Used lightning owner here bought it in May of this year with 33k miles now at a little over 36k miles. I typically have been setting a 90% charge limit until three days ago when the truck charged to 100% without me telling it to (But I don't think it was a true 100% as it showed my expect 90% range). Immediately after and the days following I have been seeing the truck and app say its at 100% charge but then as soon as I leave my driveway its already at 94% and then in less than a mile its at 90%. I have not gotten any errors or stop safely now messages but I'm assuming this is either a BMS issue or a bad module. Will try disconnecting and reconnecting the 12v later after getting home before calling the dealership.

You might have a HVB module issue, get it into service!

Have you seen the repair history of the truck at the time you bought it or subsequently?
I wonder if it had a module swap already and it's still going through the balancing process, which I would expect to have finished after 3+ months of regular driving & charging

The ford app has two service visits in March 30th 2026 and April 4th 2025 which list scheduled maintenance and electrical being done. Electrical being vague would they specify something more in detail if it was HVB related?

I would get a good OBD reader and carscanner or similar. Will help you way more data about what is going on, both for your knowledge and to take evidence to convince a skeptical stealership service department.

What shows in the app is simply what the dealer inputs. I have a fantastic dealer service department as far as service goes, but what they enter into what shows in the app is meaningless.

I think you are over reacting. Just consider it an amusement and go on with your life. Artificial intelligence is constantly calculating and recalculating miles and percentages based on a thousand bits of data and sometimes AI says to itself “O wait this or that is too something” and adjusts on the fly!

Lately my 23 Er with 64k miles has been charging to 100% and over 350 miles. I just smile and go on with life. I rely on the percentage mostly, and only consider the miles when the charge is getting low.

Point is if I then go out and do one 0 to 60 max run, the numbers will suddenly change and then if I drive it like my grandma would, the will suddenly change again!

I will wait it out a few more days like I said the truck is running fine and I typically charge to 90% anyway. I will turn updates back on as well as reconnect the 12v if that works as a good turn it off and on again button.

I would try deleting charging locations and re-establish to see if it will report stopping the charge at 90% again. Without and OBD reader to dig deeper it's hard to say beyond educated guesses. There's known symptom where one intentionally charges to 100% but it immediately drops into the 80's when you go to drive. That's a solid sign of a bad HVB module. An alternative test would be to set your charge target to 100% and see how it behaves.

Yep, post 9 is likely the answer. I had a very similar charging behavior. Another symptom is that while charging, at around 80% the charge rate severely slowed. Then as it approached 82%, the truck jumped to 100% and said done.

Another symptom - with a Bluetooth OBD reader and Car Scanner you can see your Module variation. I document it all here.

I ordered an OBD reader so I can look at that information. I am sure I will see something similar to the issues you had.

I used car scanner and saw the module variation was 11.71%. Did the same thing this morning 100% down to 90% on the dash but car scanner shows it's 84%. Another note is if you plug in now it says starting charging but never does anything and stays at 90%. Made my appointment the service bulletin information was appreciated.

That's a large variation %, all symptoms now point to a bad battery module. Fingers crossed it doesn't take too long to get it swapped out. Lots of threads here with big differences in wait times. The dealer will likely not have a module on hand and will need to have it shipped after Ford gives the green light to replace it. It's an annoying process for sure.
