SSM 55080 Some 2022-2023 Lightning may stop charging on DC fast charger

11/2022 build, so I'm in the zone. I have an upcoming road trip, so I'll test mine in the next week or so to make sure all is well on the DCFC front. That would really suck if DCFC doesn't work after I get 200mi from home.

What strikes me strange: There have been 10s of thousands of successful DCFC events that have occurred successfully over the years to the population of vehicles listed in the SSM, yet we now get this notice. ???

Potentially some low-occurrence bug introduced during a software update or hardware starting to fail prematurely

Can Ford comment on this issue? A lot of us have long road trips planned between now and Q3 or later. Road tripping really isn't possible using anything other than fast chargers, even that requires patience.

How can customers be assured that they will be able to continue with their travel plans and not be subjected to a nightmare situation like this? What guarantee will Ford provide to those of us that are informed this won't affect them? What remediation will Ford offer if it happens?

This isnt anything different than life before the notice. There is not widespread reports of failure to fast charge. I expect ford is just sending notice for something that "exists", even if its exceedingly rare.

08/22 build. Just finished a 2500 mile trip with no issues.

Dec 2023 build and yesterday while out of town I was unable to charge at two Tesla superchargers and one Electrify America on multiple units. With 16 miles left I made it to a Ford dealer and tried their charger and about 11 hours later at 5.6 kw I had enough to make it back home. FCSP plugged in at home and charged normally. I haven't had a chance to take it to the dealer here yet.

Did you try resetting the charge circuit and pulling back the pin in the charge port? This happens to me every now and then and that's usually the fix.

It's not too bad.. it's saved my butt a few times. Though the first time I wound up sitting at a level 2 charger for 6 hours on a road trip to charge up enough to get home before I knew to try this. You can do it without removing the side piece in the frunk as well.

Try cleaning your dc connector pins. They can get dirty and cause errors.

Also, a few here have had to have the charge port wiring replaced
