  1. We need a snow driving mode

While I do agree with you and @Henry Ford in that using it breeds familiarity, and for those that use it frequently they will be better set up for how to react in any specific situation. I do want to point out though that being familiar with it also includes using it and being familiar with...
  2. Oil used in motor/axle/differential assembly

Also, filters are specific for this use case. That and I believe that it is not just a simple drain and fill. See posts 14 and 15 https://www.f150lightningforum.com/forum/threads/oil-change-on-lightning.19444/
  3. We need a snow driving mode

Task management, or in recognized pilots terms, task saturation or cogitative overload. Very often in slippery conditions you just need to coast down, either from an upcoming situation, or because traction for steering is more important than accelerating or braking. With 1pd drive enabled, NOT...
  4. We need a snow driving mode

What regen are we talking about here? Normal mode with 2pd drive is really really tame. I agree that a soft throttle mode wouldn't be bad, but depending on setting regen can be almost non-existent.
  5. Electrical system drain Service required message

If it's happening frequently I would be more concerned. These trucks are a bit picky on their 12v batteries and it can leave the vehicle unable to drive. There was an update to the 12v BMS for older trucks but yours shouldn't have that issue. I might put a battery charger on the 12v...
  6. The not-quite-a-boom-arm charging cable management

As I said, this technically hangs from the ceiling. If doing it outdoors (and doing an articulated boom arm) it will need some adjustment to work. I do think some 3" pvc and better hinges would work though.
  7. The not-quite-a-boom-arm charging cable management

We purchased this house because there was shiplap in the living room, which sold my wife. And the garage is technically a six car garage, which sold me. It also has an attached 20x15 storage room. Semi underground, six car, 60 foot long garage with its own wood stove? I would sleep in here if...
  8. Lightning on fire...

Who here has a strong social media presence? Screen shot that video, keeping his name on it, and repost it with the title "Workers light EV truck on fire". Share it here and we can spread it around. Fight fire with fire? Pardon the pun... EDIT: The FB link below makes it look FAR less like...
  9. The not-quite-a-boom-arm charging cable management

This is 2" pvc with a gate hinge at the base and door hinges in the middle. 2 1/4 exhaust clamps to hold it at the base. There is a 1x3 board trimmed and shoved down the center of the pipe to give it more rigidity. It is really close to being free floating and 3" pvc might be enough to give it...
  10. The not-quite-a-boom-arm charging cable management

Nice! I looked at something similar, it would have been a lot easier. However my truck is not always in the same spot or orientation and I wanted the ability to move the cable around. This way I can pull in or back in, or pack in the other spot.
  11. Lightning on fire...

So, just driving by they know it's a "battery operated truck", there is nobody around but the truck is in the middle of nowhere... I'm not saying it's the certainly the cause, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was a company truck and that was staged by the guys who video taped this.
  12. The not-quite-a-boom-arm charging cable management

I was tired of rolling the dirty cable up every day so I figured I would fix that. Unfortunately parking does vary in the garage so a simple "curtain rod" style system was less than desired. Instead using Home Depot I hacked together a 14 foot, almost a boom arm, system instead. It's 80%...
  13. Glare Free light operation

I feel like enabling it and disabling it was different when I first enabled the feature in forscan, more like you describe. I actually prefer the way it is now, I can turn it on or off, and i can flash. The issue is simply that the same action does not always do the same thing, and you cannot...
  14. Be Prepared - It’s gonna get cold

And it will, and it will do that just as well at 90% as it will at 100%. As I said above, the differenc between 90% and 100% is miniscule, it doesn't affect how it works, it only provides it for a very small period longer.
  15. Be Prepared - It’s gonna get cold

Because most of us always have SOME charge, so in general we are already covered for the purely random power outage. In general though we already have a sense of what may cause an outage, and what may not. As a result you have a sense of an outage being exceedingly unlikely, or just a...
  16. Glare Free light operation

Fwiw I have noticed three very frustrating aspects to the Glare Free lights. One, very frequently the right most edge section will go "high beam" into the mirrors of semi trucks if you are slowly passing them on the highway. This happened before and I noticed it was on trucks with weak side...
  17. Cold Weather, Hot Data: Heater Power Usage and Exterior Temp

Did the 1 hour drive again today and the heater was a bit different. This time it started off alternating between off and max, then at the halfway point switched to what we have seen before. Test was 70mph in 21-23 F exterior temps. Hvac on Auto 1. Oddly enough, today there was a short burst...
  18. i need serious help on this decision

Depreciation on the Lightning is pretty brutal from what I have seen. You could be sitting on $25k of negative equity by next year. Nor is the lightning efficient. It does well enough, I don't consider it a gas guzzler, but it burns through electrons and does so even faster as speed increases...
  19. F150 Lightning FORScan thread - Version 2

Nope, just the 360 camera. I have it working on my Pro with the basic mirrors.
  20. Ford's Important Tip For Driving Your Lightning in the Cold: Preconditioning / Pre-Heat Your Battery

So drive it. Just drive it. Just jump in and go, it will do that absolutely fine. You don't have to do a thing, you don't have to do any of this. You are on an enthusiast forum, this is the same as the "in the winter do you idle your vehicle before leaving" thread. Where it DOES matter is if...
