After an unfortunate incident with my original grill, I couldn't pass on the price point of this one. I wanted some subtle lighting behind the big Ford letters, so I cut some pieces of acrylic and put LED strip lights facing backwards inside the letters.

I'm looking into this grill and am thinking about designing a custom mount for the camera that I could just 3d print. We'll see how good my CAD skills are. If I can't make a good enough design, I'll probably just use the parts you did but non-sprayer version.
Did you ever make a CAD? I am going to print a holder, but I don't want to take the camera out to measure it.

Or is it super easy to take the camera out?

Camera is very easy to remove

One bracket holds it in place. And centers it upon replacement so there is no calibration issue

6 screws remove the grille. They are under the plastic pieces on the corners of the inside of the frunk. 5 minute job!

The only thing stopping me from a grille swap is an easier camera solution. I'm really looking forward to what you guys come up with. I've got the 3D printer all warmed up... ;-)

On wiring, I would like to not drill holes in my fuse box. We have 6 months of salty slush, and a lot of rain the rest of the year.

The LEDs looks like they will not survive any length of time. The wire seals are poor and the sheath is open in a lot of places.

Attaching the wires to another wire would be preferable, and shorting out would do nothing.

It’s not everyone’s cup of tea. But it’s different. Took a bit of modification for the camera and sprayer but I think it came out alright. My stock one is getting repainted after 40k miles of rock chips so it will be good as new when I decide to swap back. For now. I’m happy with being “different”

i designed and 3D printed a bracket, but I ended up having to modify everything so that it wasn't really useful. Hot glue was my friend.

Yeah I sometimes want to do it, but quite honestly I’m lazy and can’t bring myself to buy a partial solution and hack around on it. Mostly I want the grille manufacturers to do it but they don’t seem to have got the memo yet. Blergh.

Oh wow, good price. I have been watching these for some time and even getting them straight off Ali Express (which seems to have lost its secure connection) they were right around this price.
I bough one from AliExpress, arrived yesterday. Looks great. Hopefully I can install it sometime the next weeks. Oversizing the holes for the letters helped with alignment. Used an 9 mm drill bit.

My plan is to print a mount in iterations until it is right. And make a small as possible hole in the grill. And the seal around the camera with some black matte Tec7.
