23 lariat ER pre-conditioning

So question. When I put a route in and it chooses a DCFC I get a little charge icon next to the miles to destination in the cluster as pictured below. I’m assuming that means the truck is going to pre cond. the battery correct? Now I noticed on my last road trip that when I manually input a Tesla sc into the nav I also get the little charger symbol in the cluster. I don’t know how I’ve missed that for 2 years but I am getting older. lol. Since ford does not seem to care to update our sync maps to include tesla sc (which are all there already) I figure my route and then look on the Tesla app to find my chargers. I then just type in: Tesla Findlay for example and it pops right up. I hit that and it seems to know I’m going to a charger. Which I assume it’s pre cond. battery if needed correct?

It's telling you the projected remaining range when you arrive at the DCFC.

No guarantee about the battery preparation (extra cooling or in winter extra warming)

The top number is total range. The bottom number with the charger icon is how many miles into that point. If I put in just an address to a residence let’s say then it’s not a charger icon it’s a flag icon like a finish line. So there is a distinct difference and I gotta think there is a reason for that.

Yes, I understand, unless the DCFC is in your backyard, then you should see a difference

I wouldn't read too much into it. It's just a differentiation between the next stop being a charger or your destination. There are no indications of preconditioning on the display or center screen.

I think OP's logic of "different icon guarantees different thermal behavior" is flawed. I would love to be wrong and happy to see good evidence of the contrary for '22 and '23 s though...

The "distinct difference" is that it's a FAST CHARGER. Nothing more. It means absolutely NOTHING about preconditioning. It means you're routing to a fast charger.

So let me correct you. I never said “guarantee” I asked does it precondition” it’s a question because the truck knows it’s going to a charger vs. going just to an address. I will agree as I also use car scanner on my iPhone and I’ve not seen any temp drop in the battery these last couple road trips. But it’s interesting that the icon is there. Makes me wonder if the truck is actually ever pre conditioning for charging. And what condition would it pre condition.

Yes I get there are no indications of pre conditioning. There are none under any circumstances. Does make me wonder if it ever does. My understanding was that the 22’s did not precondition but 23 and newer were able to but god knows what the prerequisite for that is.

Under warm weather conditions, the HVB is actively being cooled, possibly to a higher limit, as we've all seen on the instrument cluster, the truck does a great job keeping it within tolerances.

Under freezing conditions, the HVB can still work well driving, but if charging is needed, the battery needs to be prepared, 23+ trucks do so when navigating to a high output DCFC a few folks have gathered OBD data to confirm it's happening enroute, while those with 2022's have proven that the truck DOES NOT actively warm the HVB enroute to a DCFC, it only begins to warm after connection to the DCFC station, the charge rate is suppressed (SLOW) until the PTC can get the HVB warmed to a safe charging temperature.

There are NO dash indicators on ANY model year lighting to say that battery conditioning is occuring, warming or cooling.
