I just upgraded to a cybertruck. best sound system of any car I have owned. better than BMW, Audi, Porsche, Mercedes, Lexus, even better than my old Model Y performance. still have the lightning.

Those are all advertising deals so it is probably the cheapest way to get a stereo in a vehicle. I'm not going to argue sound quality with anyone as it's incredibly subjective. I can tell you that my Lariat stereo is way better than an xlt stereo and it's more than capable of delivering a balanced sound

That is unlikely, but that's your opinion. Just don't blow your windows out.

The cyber truck audio system actually is amazing.

But I guess you have to take your pick- incredibly functional and reliable truck with a shitty audio system (lightning) or a shitty, unreliable truck with a solid audio system (cyber truck).

I had my stereo upgraded using all MSC components ( Helix, Blam, etc ) -- see attached PDF
https://www.systemsbymsc.com/ford-f150-2018-2020

They make a custom box that goes under the back seat that fits 2x10s. Most interior speakers are replaced, notably the tweeters in A pillar, mids in the dash and lows in the doors. It comes with a very very capable Helix DSP. The setup is not cheap but it sounds absolutely fantastic if you want to spend the money for a great stereo. Find a local MSC dealer and they can order this package for you. Parts + install will be around $10k

I just entered the Lightning world about 2 months ago (2023 Lariat). I previously owned a 2013 Tundra Limited. You guys are correct... the B&O sound system is pretty crappy. My Tundra had an excellent sound system. There are only three things I prefer on the Toyota.

1. Sharper turning radius (Seat-of-the-pants observation, so that may be just perception).
2. The entire back window rolled down, not just a little square. That was awesome.
3. The sound system was far better

You are going to need an amp(s) and an A2B device. I just (last few weeks) installed an iDatalink Maestro with an Audison AF-C8.14 DSP amp. With the 8ā€ drivers I replaced in the front doors I don’t need a sub. I also added midrange speakers to the dash. It’s as good as my Model Y now. It takes time but what you are able to achieve with a DSP amp is impressive. Enter Sandman sounds awesome now. This is something with a bass beat for comparison.

I agree that Tesla has one of the best factory systems and they do part of it with speakers across the dash. What I've found with the truck and what I bought was good replacements for the doors and tweeters, upgraded the amp and got a good tune for it. A good tune can set the sound stage across the dash from the doors and tweeters without dash speakers if you don't have them. I won't say maybe they'll still help, but that awful center speaker Ford put in does have to go. I just disconnected it and replaced all the others with Focal Flax and a JL Audio sub.

I’ve got 3 of the Tesla 100mm (4ā€) speakers in the dash. The center is disconnected right now because I ran out of powered channels. Currently it all sounds very similar to my Y. There is SO MUCH you can do with a DSP amp and I think Telsa has a very heavy tune to thier speakers to the car. I tried one of the 3/Y 8ā€ in the door and did an A/B with the Focal 8ā€ in the other. The Focal was a lot better, but the Tesla speaker also sounded better in the Tesla. I’m considering adding another 4 channel amp to just run the doors and free up a channel for the center on the current amp. I don’t know that it would get that much better though. Same with a sub. I would need to go pretty big to get something that would overpower where it is now. How much better do the Flax sound than the Focal polyglass?

I find mine is amazing. Love to drive to Maine with the music blaring!!
I agree 100% mine sounds great. Thumps when I want it to. I do agree the ford speakers are crap. I replaced my door speakers with the powerbass plug & play ones and that definitely took it up a notch but overall I’ve got no complaints.

I didn't do any comparisons. I shopped the two bigger online retailers that sell "kits" if you will. They both used and sold Focal Flax at the time. I did a bit more research and just went with it.

I have to concur with the consensus that the Lariat B&O audio is far from exceptional. I have fused about the need to set the fade way to the back to even come close to overriding the front center dash speaker.

If you have rear seat passengers they get blown out from thise speakers being so much higher than the front. And I almost always have my 92yr dad in the back seat. šŸ™
