I thought I had seen a menu option for “traffic sign detection” but now it’s nowhere to be found. I do see one for speed limit assistance, but I have that turned off. So I don’t know why the adaptive cruise continues to hit the brakes when it thinks I’ve gone into a different speed limit zone, but my God it sure is annoying.

This really is my only complaint about the truck so far: the absolute quagmire of driver assistance options and features that actually make driving more of a pain. If I could get rid of 80% of these nannies, this EV truck would be very enjoyable.

my 1lb wrist-weight works perfectly with my Adaptive Cruise for continued Lane Centering, and without continuous ongoing periodic alerts... for hundreds of miles...

I think some may confuse other systems, with other types of vehicles, with the need to 'touch' the steering wheel, like my wife's EV9 allows for... with the LIGHTNING, though, you have to 'torque', to some small degree, the steering wheel, in order for the system to recognize the input... the 1 lb wrist-weight at the 2pm position does just that - it applies continuous 'weight', or torque, to the wheel, just enough for the system to 'feel' it and eliminate alerts, in the majority of situations...

It has been renamed over the years as BC 1.2+ has occurred. It was Speed Sign Recognition originally for 22-23 but starting in 24 (and any earlier model that got the BC 1.4 update) it is called Predictive Speed Assist and is under the ACC submenu now.

Supposedly it signals you by flashing the speed limit box before slowing:
  • Predictive Speed Assist automatically and smoothly adjusts the speed as drivers approach a sharp curve and will help signal the driver ahead of time when a speed change is about to occur, so they understand why the vehicle is slowing.

I’m surprised the weights work. They didn’t when I tried it two years ago. And others had also reported similar experiences. But if it works for you 👍🏻

Ankle weights and wrist weights don't work on Ford vehicles. I'm not even sure they work on Teslas anymore, but I don't really follow what the Tesla crowd are up to these days.

Ford's system literally requires you to 'oppose' the steering efforts that lane keeping makes, roughly every 10 seconds or so....just to prove that you're holding on to the wheel. Otherwise, you get the warning.

So for a system that supposedly is in place to reduce stress on long drives, it actually forces the driver to make completely unnecessary minor corrections to the path of the vehicle by wiggling the steering wheel....just to prove that you're still there and awake. Every. Ten. Seconds.
Nope, fake news. They do work, I have done it several times on my 23 XLT. Found the hack on YouTube. The weights work if you place them at the 5 o'clock position on the bottom right of the wheel. True story bruh.

That is gone from my menus now also. Why do things appear and disappear every time I drive this truck?

Nope. I'm nervous with Forscan. Used it on my '19 F-250 once and it screwed up the BCM. So I only rarely ever make Forscan changes on my trucks now.
