Sounds like maybe you got Walk Away Lock enabled. Did you have any dealer updates recently? WAL requires the BCM update. The window door update only updated DDM and PDM.

WAL started for me after dealer installed frunk update 24p24
That update doesn't enable WAL. They very likely also updated the BCM while doing the frunk update. Easily verified if you have someone pull your FDRS history.

I did not notice it.

Unless there is a toggle to turn of WAL I don't want it. I park in my garage at home and want it to stay unlocked. My understanding is that the BCM update doesn't add the toggle. I'm avoiding taking it to the dealer for CSPs in case I end up with WAL.

I got it with the front sensor CSP. I believe you can add the toggles with Forscan. Seems silly Ford hasn't added the toggles yet. I've had WAL for months now without the toggles.

Hey, I've got my 20k mile service appt. soon and would like the ability to have WAL enabled. Do I simply ask the dealer to update the BCM while I'm there? Anything specific that I need to request or is that all I need to ask them?

Very disappointed!

So I was so excited yesterday when I got a flash on my screen saying that my vehicle will update overnight considering updates are like once every 18 months.

Got in my vehicle today and the update said your vehicle is updated. “You have a better automatic window roll up/down experience.”

What the double hockey stick is that?

Can we get some innovation, the last update prior was just as sad “update to better your software update experience”

Huh?! doesn’t make sense to the consumer.

I guess Ford is like Apple is to Samsung, same ringtones as 2007 after 18 updates and with their Apple Watch the same watch faces even before there was even an Apple Watch.

Yes that is the update you would need. But it has been hit or miss if dealers will do updates that aren't called for in a recall or CSP. If you are still under warranty you can ask them to do TSB 25-2048. It includes the BCM.

I received the window update, and now my truck has WAL. I actually received an alert on my phone that the truck locked itself.
I went in to the Sync screen and under Locks I could not find anything to enable/disable WAL. I presume that is a Forscan setting that needs to be done? Will ask the dealer to do that, to do the Forscan update so that my heated steering wheel appears on the Sync and App for remote start, while it is in having the Wrench service done for a recent power train malfunction that popped up and they are waiting to get a part for.

Dealers won't do FORScan. I haven't heard that there is an FDRS fix for the Sync WAL sliders (also need BC 1.4 sliders). Should come in a SYNC update at some point.

You're the second person to mention that maybe the doors update gave them WAL. I got the doors update but already had the updated BCM.

If you're comfortable with FORScan yourself, you can add the sliders. It's documented here.

That would be rather annoying if Ford turned it on OTA and didn't add the toggle but then again BC 1.4 shows they like half baked updates as you mentioned. Pro tip, don't leave your phone inside the truck and expect it not to lock. Was washing mine and had it lock with the phone sitting in the driver's seat. Luckily I have the keypad and was able to get back in.

Bummer to hear that dealers don't do the Forscan changes. That seems like something they should do since I cannot make those changes without significant tech, and Ford does not seem to be able to enable their software updates to allow the functionality.
But perhaps the Sync updates will address the issue? I don't know enough about them but will rely on the collective knowledge of the Forum and its members. This place has been invaluable!

About $60 for the adapter and you can get a two month license for free. https://a.co/d/2orV0dZ Then a whole world of possibilities is opened.
