BCM Update | Restricted Update

Hello, I’ve searched some of the common FDRS threads regarding the restricted dealer-only BCM update. Will this update ever be in an OTA update or is it something we’ll need to specifically ask for at dealer maintenance?

When I got, it was a full systems update. It took the dealer two days. I think it’s a lower-level system than the OTA stuff.

They probably did more. The BCM is like a 5min update. Sure Ford will push it out OTA "soon" since the 24's have WAL.

As PJnc284 said the BCM software is a quick update. Ford added the restriction in FDRS to this update to curb auto theft apparently. This keeps anyone in the public from just buying a cheap 72hr subscription to re-key a vehicle. FORScan is a ripoff of FDRS from Russia, so of course it can still do the update like with every other module, but you'll need the firmware files.

You can always set an appointment with mobile service (might need to give them a good reason why you can’t take it in) and they can do it for you
