I haven't gotten an OTA update in almost 9 months. I have a '23 Lariat ER and I'm still on BC 1.0. Does anyone know if dealers can manually update to the latest software? I don't know why Ford is so terrible at pushing updates.

Yes, they can, but even under warranty, Ford does not pay them to updates modules just because they are out of date. There would need to be a recall or a problem with the vehicle that an update will fix for them to do it.

I told my dealer that CarPlay is acting up. There is a TSB addressing that issue that updates a lot of the modules. That might kick start more OTA updates.

Hang in there this too will pass. I waited just over two years to get my 1.4 update. MY22.

That (if applicable) willl not cover all the updates; just the sync modules.

I am at 3 years next week since delivery in 2022. Still at 1.0 BlueCruise.

That sounds about right. Mine was a 3/21/2022 build date Demo model that was activated by the dealer. I bought it in March of 2023 w/380mi. on it.

I received 1.4 OTA on 6/5/2025, So when you compare the two that puts you in the same time window. It could come anytime now. 🤞

I just had mobile service stop by to do the front sensor update. I asked and he said for those updates required by the dealership, it automatically updates everything as the new stuff likely has dependencies on the newer versions of everything. This may be why there are some updates that have to be done by the dealer.
Have I double checked that he knows what he's talking about?
No.

Yes. But they are going to complain.

If you want your vehicle updated, you need to invest the time and effort to read this forum. There have been numerous "problems" identified in this forum that needed fixes. Some were CSPs (Customer Satisfaction Programs), some were TSBs (Technical Service Bulletins). If you have the problem identified, then you get a bunch of modules updated. Then, if there's a tiny update or three left, the tech may do them.

As an example, TSB 25-2048 addresses general Sync stability issues. We've had to reboot Sync on trips, or it freezes and reboots itself, on both vehicles.

There was a CSP or TSB for stuck updates a while back. Or the tech notes that issue, and does update. Just takes a proactive owner.

There are certain modules that require other modules to be updated before they can be updated. It's all excuses because nobody likes to work for free.

I think we are saying the same thing.
But - he did mention, this job was to update 2 modules, for pay of .3 each module. Yet, that .3 doesn't take into account all of the other supporting modules that have to be updated.
He also talked about how bad pay at the dealership is. My impression was he gets paid better doing the mobile stuff...though I didn't do a deep dive.

Yes, but if he/she had to update other modules in order to get to the modules that needed to updated, that can be documented in the tech notes and they can bill Ford for additional labor time. Ford has a way of verifying that when they look at vehicle history; they can see exactly what the tech did and how much time it took him/her to do it.
