Door Edge Guards/Protectors

I've searched on the forums and haven't seen anything that addresses this, but if I've missed it, please direct me to the right thread...

Any suggestions for door edge guards? Opening my door in the garage has lightly nicked the paint some on the door edge.

We have been using this 3M product for years. It's invisible, easy to apply and does a good job of protecting the door edges. 3M Door Edge Guard Last time we bought it, it was $15 and now it's up to $25.

If it's in your garage, can you attach a pool noodle or something else to the wall where it hits?

IMO, they look awful. We put padding on the wall and there's now no possibility of a problem.
