Was wondering if anyone knows how to enable the charging speed display on the dash that comes standard on new trucks. My ‘23 shows estimated time completed but not the kw power input like the new trucks. Was wondering if anyone has enabled this on forscan?

This is a useful mod I wasn’t adware of but I was really referring to the charge speed dc or ac readout on the instrument cluster that was added to the new trucks
There are a few posts about that in the linked thread.

You need to be proficient with FORScan, have a paid extended license, and use the MFU feature. You also need to be somewhat electrical tech savvy and have a 100A 12v battery charger to sustain the truck for 3hours for the update. If you have all these things, it's totally doable and Jesse or I can give you the firmware files for the IPC.

Took me almost 6 hours with forscan, and it was pulling some juice the whole way.

Mine took 3-4hrs. And yes, you must have a charger capable of like 60A min. 100A to be safe. I tried it with a small one that advertised 40A and had issues. Switched to an 80A and still had an issue, but think it was related to previous failed attempts. The best method is to parallel a serious automotive 12v battery to the truck with jumper cables, and also have a good 60A+ charger on them.

That’s unfortunate. Chargers that big are expensive, especially for such a small but nice to have feature.

I would love to get the files from you for this. I’ve worked with Jesse in the past and have sent him a few msgs but he has not responded and I don’t want to keep bugging him. He has been so helpful in the past I figure he must be busy with other things.

Yea, he's a busy guy. You may have to engage him if other modules need updated and you don't have FDRS, but I have those files too..... I think. Here are the files that I used to upgrade my 2022 SR XLT IPC to have the real time charge rate:

Jesse gave me these and they are for a 2024 IPC which runs the same hardware. Just make sure you have a good battery charger on your truck before you start the update and plan for at least 4hrs with a laptop plugged in to a stable power supply.

And then you'll find yourself wanting more and spending $600 on a mongoose to install updates in FDRS and not waiting on Ford. Granted with the increased FDRS license cost now, that becomes a bit less enticing. As mentioned, the advanced charging screen is a lot less effort and gives the charging speed also. The charge rate limits from the 25 don't work but wasn't a huge deal for me.

If I had the big portrait screen I'd definitely upgrade my APIM, but there's a reason I have the 12", b/c I can't stand my HVAC and radio on a touchscreen, no thanks. Also, I drove a MachE for a month, and IMO there is no substitute for having the charging info live on the IPC. Shame on Ford for not pushing this upgrade OTA to everyone immediately.

Look at how long it took them to just add the battery % to the IPC. Pretty sure no one with any common sense is creating this software.

@Ford Motor Company

Care to chime in with a non-Ai and non-Soon timeline on when this update is going to be rolled out to older trucks?

Yea, We know there are plenty of common sense engineers at Ford, but it's really sad that regarding the UI software they apparently don't have anyone in charge that actually drives the truck. If I was Jim it would be a requirement that you drive the vehicle you are working on if any part of what you do involves software and especially UI/UX software.
