yEAH.. You can get in the truck open the door.. But if you trip on the cable.. or pull the cable by accident, youre starting all over. Especially if its during the 120 flash.

Are you going to do a video on it? Been a few requests. Initial set up and any gotchas you run into might be useful for others.
Not promising, but we'll see what we can do.

The local utility company are doing serious work in the area, and so I'm going to have to do this at a weekend rather than a week day (so that there's lower risk of the power going out due to a power company thing)

:cwl: now the waiting begins. Block 5/5 on the last one takes a while. Don't freak out if it throws a bunch of DTCs after flashing the IPC and before you restore the 24 back up

So far, so good. Planning on making a video about it after, when it's not raining and my actual camera person is around to help. Also, no point making a video where I **** it up ;)

Super-impressed how Forscan is doing this though :)
It is extremely helpful to have forscan and its abilities

So, the jump cables I had failed at 94%. They started to heat right where the cable meets the clamp - and looking, it looks as if there was some rust/corrosion at that point (never checked, they've been looked after for 20+ years)

The firmware update failed and I have a blank IPC. Hopefully I can flash again with new cables. Hopefully, I haven't bricked anything. The battery is fine, and the truck turns on.

@Jesse-Infotainment Not panicking yet ;)

TLDR: Do not use old jump cables, even if they're capable of the current.

Also @Jesse-Infotainment can I confirm it's best to leave it overnight and try again in the morning when it's clear?

So close. I always get antsy that the power supply is going to fail so I kept going out and checking the current from the charger with a clamp meter every 20min or so to make sure everything was happy. Had a 12v deep cycle battery and ICE truck on standby. This and FDRS updates will certainly test your equipment.

All you need to do is load hte 120 location and let it run.. PLEASE DOTN PANIC>. It snot bricked or bad..

So in this instance she only needs to redo the last one and not the whole process?
Correct..

You can always load individual files as needed.. It isnt a requirement to load all files all the time.

I would always start the IPC update at night for people so it would be done in the morning.

Granted the Lightning is a different beast with the coolant pumps pulling so much during the entire process. The Clore 100 amp PS is the only way I can do the updates for hte Mach E and Lightning.

You can parallel another battery in line with a another PS but those coolant pumps just are so taxing and the battery is so small in the Lightning. It will dump do to 11 volts very quickly.

Youll be fine though.. SOrry it happened.. I had a guy in Canada he went out at 98% and touched the computer.. that was it. Had to start it over.

THe 188 only takes 3 MIns so its not really a issue the 120 is the long one.

yeah the clamp meter was showing 60amps+ the entire time when I was doing mine. Been using a Powermax PMBC-75 (75 amp) and it's luckily gotten me through several 6hr+ sessions. I'd probably grab the Clore or Schumacher 100 amp supplies if I were doing it again though since the heartburn isn't worth the extra 100-200 saved.
