I always thought that having an EV sound like an ICE vehicle was a cheesy idea. When I realized that the effeminate propulsion sounds (IMO) I have to put up with were mandated by Congress, I wanted to choose my own sound. I could not find an aftermarket diesel sound kit available yet. So, I bought this sound effects chip for a toy diesel truck as the basis of the project, which provides only the idling sound, not revving, which is enough for me and can be way loud enough to alert anyone. Instead of using MegaOhm I used an ordinary 4 ohm resistor to trick BCM into thinking its still hooked up to speaker, so no DTCs. Then I bought two 20W amp boards, IC soldered and stuffed everything in an electrical hobby box, got an extra AVAS propulsion sound speaker for the left side, a HVAC differential pressure switch (separate from vehicle electronics) set to 75pa connected to a 1/4" pitot tube at center of grille. 95 db legit Cummins idling diesel sound eminates from both sides/front of the truck. Cuts off at 30 mph when it can't be heard anyway. Other than sound chip and extra AVAS speaker from eBay, everything came from Amazon and was cheap. I know these sorts of things can be highly preferential. But, if anyone is interested, has questions, or wants parts list or pics lmk.
