FCSP Delay Time & Actual Cable Length

Got my '23 Lariet ER on May 3rd, and I'm still waiting on my promo code to order my FCSP from Ford.com. Did anyone else have to wait more than a week to get theirs? I talked to my sales guy at the one-week mark and he confirmed everything was submitted correctly on his end. I know there was a ~55% Y/Y jump in Lightning sales through the end of April, so I suspect that is affecting the times.

My second question is regarding the actual FCSP unit's cable length. I have a wide lot and a shared driveway. My garage is detached and located at the back of the lot >35 feet from the back of the house. My driveway is 20.5 feet from the front corner of my house. If I go the cheaper installation route at the front corner of my house (avoid trenching to the garage) and park near the midpoint of my shared driveway, will I be able to reach comfortably with enough cable slack? Is the cable 25 feet from the unit to the start of the plug, or 25 feet from the unit to the end of the plug?

Most units measure to the end of the plug, and you cannot pull it tight, so 25 feet is more like 22 or so.

The J1772/CCA connector is 12” in distance from the cable strain relief to the tip of the connector. You will want several feet of loose cable from where the CSP is mounted to where you intend to park. A very tight charging cable could contribute to a bad charging connection, or problems parking in exactly the right spot.

I got my ER XLT on May 4th. Not a peep about the FCSP. Everything seems to have been submitted correctly. I got my reward points and lots of emails regarding reviews but no FCSP. I’ll give it another week or two before I call ford.

Most units measure to the end of the plug, and you cannot pull it tight, so 25 feet is more like 22 or so.

Maybe even less depending on the mounting height. The cable needs to drop to the ground, then go back up to the truck. Maybe 3’ on each end. For “comfortable slack”, I wouldn’t plan on needing more than 18’.

ETA: The (UL/NEC) cable length limit of 8 meters (25’) is measured to the face of the connector, not just the cable.

I bout my XLT ER on Apr 27th and got my email code on May 1st or 2nd. And the charger arrived on the 4th. I would check with the dealership that they have the right email. I actually had the coupon code before I got the points for buying the truck.

I picked up my 2023 Lariat ER on 4/13 and received the code on 4/16. Ordered charger same day and it was delivered on 4/23.

Ford factors in the 'droop' to give an approximate recommended installed usable length of 17'.

You may consider running the supply cable a bit longer underground and mounting the FCSP on a pedestal where you park the Lightning.
