Reserved first day, about 11 hours in.

Invited to Ford's factory launch event last April. They thought I had one on order, but I hadn't been given the "opportunity to order" yet.

Got the opportunity to order in November, passed due to price increases and lack of tax credit.
Found demo units that fit what I wanted around the country, but wife said nope, not having 2 EVs.

Wife changed her mind Earth Day weekend.

Found what was left, made arrangements on one with a fallback.

Dealership met my requirements that the truck get fully updated on all modules, took an entire day, finished at end of business last Thursday.

Flew to St. Louis, dealership picked me up and drove me an hour and a half to dealership. Checked truck over, signed papers, and headed out around 1:30PM CST.

3 flawless charging stops, including one for an hour from 14 to 90%, made it to the next stop with 26% left, charged to 60% (midnight at a Sam's Club), made it home with 14% left at 1:45AM EST.

Long day, but worth it.

Congratulations! My wife was also reluctant at first, but we have three EVs now. We've learned how to charge on frequent road trips. And with our expanded solar array, we can now charge exclusively with solar power at home. I just love cheating both Chevron out of oil profits and my power company (PGE) out of exorbitant electricity rates!

I love trying to starve OPEC. I hope every gallon I don't use comes out of their export numbers. I know it doesn't, but maybe someday soon....

Congrats Rick! Glad it finally all worked out. You've always been a good (and sometimes snarky 😉) source of information going back to my time on the mach e forums.

Was rapid red a requirement, or did you just end up with 2?

First choice. Like Ruby Red but that was discontinued years ago Atlas Blue next on the list.

My 17 F150 was Ruby Red. I parked the Rapid Red Mach-E right next to it and my old eyes couldn't tell them apart.

I have driven in a Lighting back when they did the rides around the country, and again during the factory launch which we were invited to, then again when we borrowed our dealer's demo while the Mach-E was being repaired, and drove that 100 miles to/from Toledo and visited two breweries.

Ride in Lighting is superior.
Acceleration in Lightning is superior.
Efficiency in Mach-E is superior, the Lighting is about 40% worse. On the road home, I average 1.8 doing 73ish. In the Mach-E, I average 2.9.
Handling, I don't know yet. I suspect the Mach-E would win, but an independent suspension truck is new for me.
