The reason I'm dubious of the part they're quoting me is everything says '25 Mach E. I know newer Lightning have a heat pump, but I can't imagine all lightnings went to a new mach e part and Ford just didn't update their part #'s.

The fact that you know of the exact issue and reference a different part ID makes me wonder if somehow this one got glanced over in the recall. I bought it used.

It's also worth saying it was -26 at the time of failure (which also sucked being a human with no heat availability on the side of the road)
The PTC heater for an early Mach-E is 5KW. The one for the Lightning is 7KW. Later Mach-Es went to 7KW so it’s possible those are the same.

-26? what sunny tundra are you in? The Yukon? Siberia?

I'm really getting nervous keeping this vehicle. 22 loaded pro with 30k miles. Very glitch prone. Several parts replaced that failed way way to early for me. Lucky with my 2 1000 mile road trips I've taken. I love how the truck is a beast but come on. The failures I read here very concerning. I know some of you will say well, that's the minority.....

I do work for an airline... a few days a month. If you need flight help let me know... but we don't fly to the tundra.. haha

Unfortunately I think you are stuck eating the cost. I learned this lesson on a previous vehicle years ago. To date, I only buy known vehicles, all high tech ones I lease. I also have an old extra vehicle sitting at the property that i can drive if one of our other new vehicles gets caught in this same situation.

Shut me down in middle of nowhere at side of the road about 10 hours from home.

Anyone have any luck convincing their non-home base dealership to provide loaner? This dealer is saying could be 2 months for the part. Ford is saying warranty on high voltage is parts and service only.

It's going to be a while and I'm a long way from home. Wouldn't love to just leave it behind, never had a breakdown like this before.
That's the Cabin Coolant heater, PTC heater, and I gues some are calling it an auxiliary heater. It's odd that it stranded you. Mine went out and I could still drive my truck... my windows would fog up and I used a small space heater to heat my windshield and the cabin. It could be dangerous to drive with a fogged up windshield.... we need to see what's ahead. I wonder if a new software update causes the trucks to not drive when the PTC heater goes out for safety reasons? If it's warm outside they should allow you to drive home. Call Ford customer service and ask for the BEV division. Mybe they can activate your Truck to get you home. They can diagnose over the air.

I've attached a document from Ford for the recall. There is a window to qualify for the recall if you aren't under warranty. See attachment.

If vehicle reliability is your priority buy a Toyota. Reliability doesn't seem to be Ford's priority. I really like my truck so I'm keeping despite legitimate reliability concerns. I also have three Ford dealerships within 10 miles of my house which helps.

Yeah, the Lightning is hands down the best vehicle I've ever owned. It's been more reliable than my Volvo's or Audi's, and it's way cheaper to charge than fuel with next to no maintenance.

No hesitation to say I love my truck, this is an annoyance but would never discourage me.

Thus, Ford has confirmed this is a safety issue. If your vehicle is outside the production date limits, I suggest filing a NHTSA Safety Complaint. I am confident you will eventually be reimbursed.

Forums are where people come to find help for issues, so it seems like there are always issues. It really is the minority, but the majority of posts are people trying to get help or information about an issue, so it seems like all vehicles are ticking time-bombs that are going to leave you stranded no matter which forum you go to.
