My phones battery was a lot lower than I expected this morning (I don’t always charge my phone overnight) so I looked at what was consuming power, looks like FordPass App is a battery hog in iOS 26.

It used 28% battery power in the background in 31m???? What could this app possibly need to do to consume this amount of power for any duration let alone 31mins?

Will continue to monitor it as it’s a new phone and only have one day of data!

Not seeing excessive battery use.

What version FordPass are you running?

Mine does it on 18.6.2.
29% of my battery use was FP.

Strange. I just upgraded to iPhone 17 pro max and have the lastest iOS and FordPass versions. No FordPass battery hog issues on mine.

Interesting!

I didn’t have this issue with my old phone (iPhone 13 running iOS 18) nor on my wife’s iPhone 16pro max running iOS 18. I just see it on my new phone (iPhone 17ProMax) have iOS 26.0.1. Will upgrade wife’s phone to iOS 26 (if she’ll let me) to check.

For the record I don’t see it on my Galaxy S25 Ultra either so assumed it was ios26 but seems it’s not!

Have you done a full phone restart after the iOS upgrade? I find it is needed to clean up some items like this.

Yep did a hardware reset (always do after any OS install/update 😁) .

This morning after I noticed the high battery use by the FordPass App I uninstalled the App, rebooted and then reinstalled it. I will keep an eye on it to see if it fixes the drain I noticed last night.

I know in the past when I was having issues with PAAK the issue was local cached files etc and what I did you resolve that was:
  1. Logged out of FordPass.
  2. Completely deinstalled FordPass (letting it delete all data).
  3. Reinstalled FordPass.
  4. Logged back in, PAAK setup worked fine.
Perhaps these same steps may help with your issue if there is some local cached files etc causing it to constantly connect to the Ford servers. May be worth a try.

Hope this helps!

I just checked my S25 Ultra running the latest version of Android. Ford Pass has used less than 0.1% of my battery life over the last 3 days. The Emporia app for my home charging station has used 0.3%.

I would agree there could be some issues. iPhone 16 Pro Max with iOS 26. FP is between 9% and 31% over the last 7 days, typically in my top 2 or 3 apps for consumption.

Over the same time the Tesla app is 1 to 2% performing the same functions. I don't typically drive the Tesla, but it is sitting beside the pickup and the app has to perform the same functions for lock, WAL, etc.

Even with the rewrite over the last 3 years it just shows they've got work and improvement to do. Unless there is something really special going on in the background it just shows the lack of commitment to technology.

iOS 26.0.1, FordPass 5.28.0, iPhone 16 Pro

Zero battery issues, showing less than 1% usage today even after driving for a couple hours and being in and around the truck with PaaK.

Well, something not right! FordPass has used 38% of phone battery in 1hr 34mins between this morning and now.

Just going to disable app when not driving and enable it when I am as I use PAAK instead of lugging around the grossly oversized key fob that come with the truck.

Hopefully the issue is with iOS as most like it will be addressed .

Thanks for all the replies, seems it’s hit and miss if you’re experiencing issues, par the course for Ford software sadly!

You have to realize that the percentage shown is percent of what has been used, not percent of your battery. If I force stop every app other than FP, it shows 69% for FP, but my battery has only dropped about 12% in last 9 hours.
