I have a 2023 Lightning and a Ford Charging Station Pro. Works flawlessly with my Ford.

My wife has a Volvo EX40 Recharge Twin and it charges fine when I plug it in for immediate charging.

However, when I set a schedule for the cheapest electricity (currently 11am to 4 PM and 1AM to 3AM) I get a charging fault amber light on the charger and it fails to charge. Once in a while it will not give the charge fault amber light and will charge. I've ChatGPD'd and it gives several reasons, including the bidirectional nature of the FCSP. But it makes no sense that scheduled charging is the only time I get the charge fault message.

Any ideas?

The FCSP is mostly a dumb charger (as far as scheduling goes) it should be able to react to the Volvo's TOU schedule, no idea why it wouldn't. The DC pins on the cable shouldn't be a factor.

Any other Volvo owners in a similar use case?

To clarify. Are you relying only on the FCSP schedule to keep within the TOU? You're not relying on the Volvo charging schedule?

If you're thinking the TOU schedule programmed in Sync via your Lightning will control the situation, that's wrong thinking.

If you are indeed setting this schedule in the Volvo, then why it's tripping an error light is odd.

I donโ€™t use a schedule for either my Lightning or the EX90 since there is no benefit where I live. Nonetheless, the FCSP works well with the Volvo. Sorry I cannot be more helpful.
