I updated to the latest iOS version a few days ago to see if it would fix my non stop “FordPass not responding” issues I’ve had for a week but nope…

The following may just be an example of Ford's servers running amuck and not strictly a problem of the FordPass app v4.31.0. I'll let the reader decide.

I got the 4.31.0 iOS update last Thursday. My truck was charged up well past my standard 50% limit, so it was only this Wednesday a.m. (11/8) that the truck charge dipped to 49%, triggering a slight middle-of-the-night recharge.

But here's what the FordPass app says for Charge Details at 12:04 p.m. today

The app reports 76% of the battery capacity added (99.5 kWh) when yesterday, the truck was at 49% SOC! But wait! It gets better...

Here is the Charge Details screen at 12:46 p.m.

The amount of energy added is still going up, even though the reported SOC remains at 50% (my charge limit). One can calculate that in the 42 minutes that passed between photos, 7.7 kWh were supposedly added for an actual hourly rate of 11 kWh/hr, which is ~what my FCSP is set to deliver (48 amps). I used the M Professional app to see via the Acrel meter in my HIS system what the grid was delivering (442 W, with both a power-hungry computer and the frig running, 321 W with the computer put to sleep. Not 11 kW. The truck charging port was also dark.).

To judge the true state of affairs, I went to my truck:

Ford has got to do better on the reliability of its products if it wants to have any hope I'd recommend buying a Lightning to a friend or neighbor.

In the vein of things that don't work right, I saw a Lightning ad in a YouTube video yesterday. The ad extolled Pro Power Onboard to the skies, all the ways your life would suddenly become more convenient. Not a mention of backing up your home with all that battery power. When home backup, along with onboard scales, used to be touted among the top benefits of buying a Lightning...

Now I've exceeded the visible capacity of my HVB in Charge Added as reported by the app! I think the spurious data is coming from the Ford servers as the app's home screen can say I haven't updated the FordPass app in 2 hours or more. Yet when I click on the Charge Details button, the circles go round, and my Charge Details data is being refreshed by data I presume is routed through Ford servers, as I can do the interrogation and get results anywhere that I have an Internet connection.

Tangenting to other observations, the imputed maximum range is no longer computing to ~320 miles if at 100% SOC, I'm fine with this reverting to a more realistic ~potential performance~ value than the false promises we seen last fall/winter.

Samples at various SOC's for a 131 KWH ER battery in a 2022 Lariat driven by me with a heavy foot, also MPK's have been lower than average when I'm remote starting to warm up on cold mornings while unplugged in some cases, given my short travel routes this is not an issue.

Nov 1 temps for the day was 32-46°, imputed max range 268/.9 = 298 miles

Nov 6 temps for the day was 38-49°, imputed max range 246/.84 = 293 miles
Ford F-150 Lightning FordPass 4.31.1 update (Performance & Bug Fixes) 1699483564080

Nov 8 temps for the day was 33-44°, imputed max range 194/.69 = 281 miles
Values just before starting to charge

Nov 8 peak temps for the day was 33-44°, imputed max range 262/.90 = 291 miles
After finishing charging

In previous versions of the app, these estimates would have yield ~320 miles of range, but the lower values are closer to reality given my method of operation.

This week I've consumed 30.1 KWH per emporia and 29.9 KWH per Fordpass.
Both values include charging losses and represent the true cost to drive.
With an effective 1.4 MPK over 41 miles of travel Mon, Tues & Wed cold weather.

Tomorrow morning my Lightning will be going in for routine check up and remedy of the 4 issues, two CSP's (BECM update & dash matt) and two recalls (wiper motor & tail gate light).

Hopefully they will be able to wrap it all up the same day I'll have the truck back that afternoon or Friday, barring any issues after the BECM update is applied

This version, don't quite know why it's there since we're already "logged in" to Fordpass?!?!?

I'm surprised they haven't fixed the bug (on iOS anyway) where when you start the truck remotely it'll keep the "Add 15 minutes" banner at the top forever until you force close and reopen the app.

That has improved in the android version, but sometimes I need to be patient for the *started* to go away and the countdown to display with the extend button.

I'll have to give that a try. I'm bummed we had to trade the remote start button found on the ICE F150 for the frunk open button. Having both buttons would be ideal. Maybe that's something the 2024 models will improve upon.

I don't have that bug. Just gave it a try to confirm. I remote started the truck - Extend banner at the top. Stopped the truck, banner went away. I started it again, banner was at top. I let the 15 minutes elapse, once it did the banner went away on its own.
